Hi Guys!

Im coming over in Oct and staying @ Saratoga Springs for 2 weeks.
Id love to stay at Yacht Club but cant afford to stay there for the whole 2 weeks.
Ive looked into doing a split stay but this looks VEEEEEEERY complicated - especially as we have the dining plan special offer and have allready booked the package.

I was wondering if it was possiable to just ask at reception if we could move to Yacht Club after week 1 and pay the extra???

Split stays are not really very complicated....you just make two reservations. When the time comes to change resorts, you call Bell Services to come get your bags, and they take them to your next resort. Easy. :)

If you just walk up to the SSR front desk and tell them you want to change resorts for the next 7 days, there would have to be availability at YC, and you would likely lose any special offers you had for that week - you would be paying the full, rack-rate price for YC. Your dining credits would also have to be transferred to the new YC reservation, I'm not sure how that works. If you're on free dining, that could be a problem, as YC may not honor your free dining discount.

Believe me, it's much less complicated to change your reservation now. Especially if the dining offer you booked is still active, and available for YC.

ok thanks. I have not booked through Disney so have contacted the company who made the booking :)

Just remember for the free dining offer if still valid with require purchasing a set of tickets for each reservation.

Good point, thanks for catching that. I don't know if the UK offer differs, but the US offer requires purchase of at least 2 days worth of tickets for each person on each reservation under the free dining promotion.

Even with the possible extra cost for the tickets, I still don't think I'd risk changing mid-vacation. The possibility of there being no availability, the possibility of losing any special offers/rates that I had....too much risk for me.

Split stays are actually not too complicated. Think of it as 2 separate reservations, back to back.

I'm not familiar with the terms and conditions of UK packages, but in the US you would be making 2 separate reservations so you wouldn't be able to carry over any entitlements from the first resort to the second. So if you have the dining plan at Resort #1 all of the credits expire on the day when you check out of that resort. If you want the dining plan at Resort #2 you would have to purchase the minimum ticket requirement again even if you don't plan to use those tickets. As a result it's usually not financially practical.

If you wait until you're here and try to move to the YC, you would be paying rack rates and most likely won't be able to keep your dining plan. If they let you transfer the credits it would be because of pixie dust.

Thanks for the info guys. Yacht club is now fully booked on my dates but im waiting to hear back about Beach Club.

I have mentioned about not loosing free dining if i change But i dont think they have check that yet. I have 2 14 day tickets so im guessing i would loose my free dining. Saratoga Springs it is I guess!

To get free dining at the second resort (if it is available) you would have to buy the second set of tickets. You could put them away for another trip or you could forego free dining at the second resort, try for a room-only discount and pay OOP for your meals the second week.
