Can I change from 7 people to 5 without penalty?

Our booking date is coming and 2 people of our group of 7 are unsure if they will be able to make as yet..so I want them to have dining with us if they do come, but also dont want to lose our ressies for the 5 of us if they cant. Can I book for 7 and later change to 5, or them just not show, or will we be penalized or lose ressie? Thx

Definitely book for 7. It is always easier to go down in number than up. If you end up only having 5 you can try to modify your ADR, but if that doesn't work it is no problem to show up with less people. You will not be penalized as long as some members of your party show up.
