4 Night Dream...I want to NOT check bags. I want to carry it all on with me.
I have a 1:30 port time so I am pretty sure I won't have to carry it around long and will be able to go directly to my room. Will I be allowed to carry as much as I wish on?

And I know, everyone is going to ask the reasons...well, twice I have had bags lost...and I don't mean late...I mean LOST forever. Not on DCL but it still has me worried.

Also, I have a 6:50 Remy and would like to not have the hassle of packing a dress in a small carry on or packing specifically for Remy.

If it will fit through the scanner, you can carry it on. There is a bag size limit listed on the DCL page, and it is basically the same as airline carry on size. Can you bring the great big 26" suitcase? No. Can you bring 4 carry-on sized bags? Yes, if you can handle them, you can tote them yourself. There are not the same restrictions like an airline has for liquids.

You'll have to decide which is more important to you - carrying everything on in smaller bags, or keeping the dress nice in a large suitcase and checking it. All carry-on bags must fit through the scanner (similar to airport scanner though I'm not sure it's exactly the same size), but you are not limited in number of carry-ons.

Enjoy your cruise!

As long as each item fits through the scanner (max size 22X14X9) you may carryon as many bags as you can handle.

Good luck

The reason the poster gave is that she doesn't want her luggage lost.

Duhuh i totally missed that... Hmmm i'm visually impaired but maybe another eye exam is needed ;-)
Thanks for your reply!!!

I think it would be difficult for luggage to get lost between the dropoff at the terminal and the ship. :confused3

No worries. In fact, I wondered the same thing when I first read the thread...I think it would be a hassle to worry with carrying everything on. But, I've never had the bad luck of having my luggage lost. If that ever happened to me, I might be a little more worried.

Perhaps if it was delivered to the wrong room....and the people who got it decided to keep it. There are dishonest people out there who would do just that.

That is funny...I was on a theatre tour as an actor and my luggage was securely locked in the back of a cargo truck along with everyone else on my theatre tour....my luggage fell out of the truck and was lost forever after the truck was stopped for a routine log book inspection and searched. The only piece of luggage of the 70 that was lost, was mine.

And it was another cruise line that lost my luggage forever from terminal drop off and the ship so go figure....

I will be carrying my stuff on then...thanks for the input from everyone!!

I've heard of more than one case where luggage fell off the cart and fell into the ocean. Assuming they could retrieve it, your stuff would be pretty ruined. Not that likely, but it has been known to happen!

I would like to carry most everything on for the reason already given (loss of luggage) and (wanting clothes for dinner)

ALSO, i like to have all my stuff unpacked and put away before the sailaway party and i hate waiting around for the last bag (s).

Friends of ours lost a suitcase in the ocean as the baggage handlers were loading the ship. They received a large voucher to buy clothing at the stores onboard and they received a free cruise. As long as it was my DH's suitcase, I think I'd be ok with that! :rotfl2:

I've carried it all on before when I had your standard carry-on airport luggage.

4 nights!?! It shouldn't be a problem to pack light and carry it on the ship.

I always cross pack our clothes just in case a bag ever gets lost. Some might think it more of a hassle, but I will always pack a few outfits for each person spread out throughout the bags. Unless they lose all the bags, we will at least have some clothes for each of us until things are resolved.

Went on dream in May 2012 and my husband brought a 36 inch luggage as carry on and had no problem with the size

Hey they can lose 4 of my suitcases for that.
