I was joking around with DH last night and said I should call off due to the sniper shooting. I was kidding at the time, but after watching the news this am, I am not so sure I want to be out today. I will be going right by where 2 of the shooting where. The problem with going a different way is that 2 of the places I need to be are right off the interstate so there is no way to avoid the off-ramp.

Say a little prayer and send a little pixie dust.....

My sister was on those roads that night too.

RJ, I hope you're safe today and everyone else around here. I hope it was an isolated incident, and I hope they catch whoever did it soon.

Thanks for the links.

According to the news reports the snipings look like they happen late late night or early morning, 12m - 4am... this idiot, or idiots, aren't brave enough to try this is broad daylight, at least not yet.

Go with God and don't let evil make you change your life.

After 31 years in NY I had to deal with it everyday.

It's freaking me out too! I drive on I-69 everyday to get to work. I was looking everywhere I could this morning as I was driving down the highway...

I hope they catch this person! I worry about driving the roads at night. I have school two nights a week and don't usually leave until 10pm. I'm a little nervous about it...:(

We have to travel that road in Sept to get to Disney and I am already nervous.
.

Go through Illinois.

In Virginia, we had the DC Sniper and his little buddy to deal with a few years ago. When he was in Richmond, just down the road from us, everyone I knew was on high alert and avoided the interstate and any shopping off the exits. That was a very scary time. Good Luck and say a prayer everytime you walk out the door. :grouphug:

The DC sniper shot a kid at a school about 3 miles from where I lived at the time (in Bowie, MD). Scared the bejeezus out of me. I HATED having to stop for gas and I pretty much walked double-time from my car to any shop I was heading to.

Do what you need to do. You cannot live in fear. It seems like the attacks are at night and they are aiming towards trucks.

A quote from Shawshank Redemption, "get busy living or get busy dying." The message - get busy.

Go through Illinois.

I just told DH that about half an hour ago. He agreed, possibly humoring me, but agreed. He knows that I am the nervous one of us.

We also lived through the DC area sniper and I'll have to say, it was the most terrifying time for us. :sad2: It really affected us that fall and even though it is over and I didn't personally know anyone who died, it still lingers with us. When we pass by one of the sights of a shootings, I get a pang of sadness. Sometimes I'll see a Ride-On bus driver and remember the last victim. Or something is mentioned about one of the snipers. My neighbor worked at the car dealership of one of the first (or maybe the first) shooting. Our kids couldn't play outside during recess, their fall sports was cancelled during that time, and they lived in terror. It touched us all so personally.

I tried to keep the lives of my kids as close to normal as possible, but when there was a shooting of a woman at a Home Depot it was hard for anyone to feel safe. The thing that made me the angriest is the fear that it caused in my children. :sad2:

I hope that the new crazy person(s) is caught soon and that they don't broaden where they are shooting. The unknown of where it would be next is what really drove us crazy here in this area. There are some real sickos in the world for sure.

Where in Indiana? My cousin left for Florida yesterday morning at 2:30 am, she took the Skyway to 65. When she called me later in the day she said she had to detour because the police had the road blocked off because of a shooting.

I heard the shootings were on I-65 near Seymour, then later on I-69 at Muncie. Both during the night, beginning shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Stay safe, everyone!

You won't have any clue where or IF this person(s) will do this again. You can't live in fear, it just doesn't work for long. All you can do is be careful and be aware.

yeah I was over in Indiana (way North though) and there were signs to "report suspicious overpass activity" all over the place.

that is very scary.

I agree that the DC sniper attacks were one of the scariest things I've lived through. My prayers are out to you and everyone in your area.

My littlest sister and her mom live about 5 miles from where one of the shootings occured at the Home Depot in VA. And the snipers were caught about 7 miles from my house at a rest stop in Myersville, MD....one that I pass every single day to work.
