Can I buy tickets now to use in March?

DH and I are going in Oct. Thought we were going to buy AP's, but the discount on tickets is too good if you're running the 1/2, so we're going with that. Our whole family is going in March 2011. Can I buy 10 day park hopper& water park no expiration this summer and not use them until March and then we can use them when we go for New Year's 2012. Heard ticket prices usually go up on August. Don't know how much that is and if it could save me some real money if I do it soon.

I think I'm right, but I don't want to shell out over $3000 and be wrong!

First, special discounted tickets like you would get if you purchase them through the marathon program have a hard expiration date and will only be valid for a week or two around the marathon. So you definitely can't save those tickets until March.

However, normal unused tickets never expire (whether you have the no expiration option on them or not), so it's definitely not a problem to just buy regular tickets now for a later trip. If it will be more than 14 days between the time you start using the ticket and when you're done with it, then you need to add the no expiration option. Obviously if you're planning on using the same ticket for two trips than you will need the no expiration option.

Interesting.. tickets we purchased from the Princess Half Marathon this March had an expiry of Dec 31/2010.

That is interesting. Most of the discounted sports type tickets I've seen have been much more limited than that. However, even if the tickets that the OP can get through his marathon go until the end of the year they won't help with his trip in March of next year

Thanks for answering. Going to buy the 4 day park hopper with the discounted rate for the 1/2 marathon for the October trip and then buy the 10 day no expire park hopper and water ticket for our trip in March and then Dec 2012. Huge expense now - but it will be nice to have the tickets paid for since the next trip is going to be right after the holidays.
