With the refrigerator problems and lack of availability of fridges at the hotels, can we buy a small fridge at the store and bring one to use? They seem pretty inexpensive. Not sure if they will allow this because of the problems they are already having with the ones they installed.

You can - we have before refrigerators in all rooms. However, I wouldn't really sweat it too much. From what I hear it's not as bad as originally reported. At first it seemed like no resorts were going to have any refrigerators in any rooms for four months. Now it seems it's a roll out and it's based on resort, etc.

I'm going over Labor Day, staying at Coronado Springs and since I'm driving, could bring our own fridge. I decided not to bother and see what happens. Worse will be to live out of a cooler which, surprise!, we did before refrigerators were in all Disney rooms. We can do it again. It's kind of funny what we all get used to and then if it's gone, we can't handle the alternative.

Thx! You're right- we are spoiled by the refrigerators that are in almost all hotels now. I figure we'll hope for the best but if there isn't a fridge in our room at POR, we may opt to go buy a cheap one rather than do the ice/cooler routine- especially when other threads said the ice machines are running out.

A less viable option for some people, but still an option none the less, is to store your refrigerated stuff with bell services - there are refrigerators for guest items in the luggage rooms of the resorts, and they'll be happy to store your items for you. Whenever you need the food, someone from your room can run down to the bell desk to grab it, and then you can return it once you're done. It's definitely less convenient than a fridge in the room, but it's free! ;)
