I know you can do a one time points purchase. I am not sure what the rate is right now. I also know there is a max on one time purchase. Just call them up and ask.

You can either borrow and purchase 3, or don't borrow and purchase 14. The price is $15 per point and there is a max of 24 that can be purchased as a single transaction once per UY.

Good question I'd never tried it before so I wasn't sure of all the rules associated with borrowing points

I believe the one time use points from MS can only be used at 7 months.

Call MS, they put you on hold to transfer you to the department that allows the purchase of the one-time-use points. Then are transferred back to MS to complete your reservation.

You can only buy OTU points once per UY, so be sure you don't intend to change your reservation (unless it's to one that uses the same amount of points), as you cannot buy any more to make up a difference.

So I have already borrowed 2015 points for a reservation I have in November. Would it make sense to buy 24 OTU this year so that I can "put back" my 2015 points so that I have more options for 2015? Could I do this against any existing reservation without having to cancel?

No, if you have borrowed points they cannot be returned to their original Use Year as borrowing is an irreversible transaction. The one-time-use-points must be purchased at the time you are making the reservation and that also needs to be within 7 months of the arrival date.

Yes, as long as your use year is February to June. If August to December, you can't borrow 2015 for July.
