We are AP and now I understand we are allowed to purchase the dining plan. Is this something we can just add once we arrive or is it mandatory to request it beforehand? Thanks!
I believe it is a package and you have to book as a package, package code and price, cancellation rules, ect. Even DVC owners who can add DDP without room or tickets have to do it 2 days before they arrive. Check out mousesavers for the specifics.
I would call DVC member services to be sure. This is such a new feature I'm not sure there is enough DIS experience to be certain and I wouldn't want you be disappointed. I have read here on DIS that DVCers ar Paying for DDP at check in so I'm not sure what the process is. Also the info from a CRO CM may not even apply here.
For DVC, you must order the dining plan at least 48 hours prior to your arrival at the resort, it has to be linked into your reservation, but the DVC reservation computer system has no monetary functions, so you pay for it at check-in.
I'm guessing that Annual Passholders would need to pre-pay the DDP, as CRO does have the capability to accept payments in their system.
Annual passholders must book a room plus dining package. You can't switch to a package booking from a room only at checkin. You'd have to book it ahead of time.
We no longer have to buy a one day ticket, but we do have to purchase it as a pkg, with all the conditions of a pkg (must be paid 45 days prior to check in, will be charged penalty if changes are made after 45 days etc.). I changed my room only to add dining and they refunded my room only, changed it to a pkg, and recharged my credit card. I was able to keep my AP discount for the room, but adding dining did change it to a pkg. Be careful with your total though, because with pkgs they have a tendency to automatically add travel insurance. You have to specifically tell them if you don't want it. By the way, when I called I was just checking to see if I could add the DDP at check in and was told no. It has to be booked at least 72 hours prior to check in.
