to another member's account ?

If yes then these points would still be treated as Holding Points in the account they are transferred into ( ie reservation at DVC Resort can only be made 60 days or less before check-in date ) ?

Many thanks.

They can be transferred. They are supposed to keep their same UY and holding account status but don't always do so.

i tried to transfer my holding points and was told that it wasnt possible

Holding Points can be transferred ( member who replied to my original post correctly said this too ) but Reservation Points cannot. According to MS there seems to be 'confusion' frequently on details of Holding Points and Reservation Points.

Almost forget ! MS did point out that Holding Points must be current use year points in order to be transferred. If they are Holding Points that were originally banked points or borrowed points then they would not be transferrable. ( maybe that is what the situation was with the holding points when you spoke with MS ? )

actually these are my October 07 points that will expire at the end of September (this year of course). I called to transfer the points and she told me that points in holding were none transferable. I explained that my "sister" only needed a few extra points to complete her ressie she said that maybe i should think about make the nights reservation for her under my name.

Never heard of them. Can someone please explain?
Thanks! :goodvibes
Your points are "normally" called "vacation points".

When you use vacation points to reserve something in the Disney Collection, the Adventurer's Collection or the Concierge Collection, the vacation points are converted into "reservation points". If you cancel the reservation within the deadline (which varies between options), the reservation points are still returned to your account. However, those points cannot be used to make a reservation at a DVC resort or for a trade via II, and they expire at the end of your use year.

Didn't know that and don't think I've ever read (or realized) there was a difference! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain, Carol!

I'm not sure that holding account points keep the distinction on banked/borrowed vs current UY. My info in the past suggested that it was possible to transfer holding account points regardless with the stipulations in place (not that they always stick). I have this in an email from MS without any qualification on the original type of points.
Holding account points can be transferred, however, Holding Account Vacation Points will remain in a Holding Account in the new membership.

Ok, stupid question since I had never heard of reservation points either. If you can't use them for a DVC reservation or a conceirge reservation once cancelled, what can you use them for? Only another Adventure by Disney reservation? Just curious so I dont' ever find myself in this position without knowing going in.

Cash equivalent options like DC, DCL, CC and Adventures. Go to the web page and go to Member privileges/Member benefits and privileges then click on the link for the Member Guidebook. It has a lot of the legal issues associated with these type of programs.
