DH has been getting yearly flu shots from his employer for the past 10 years.
And for the past ten years, like clockwork, he get the full blown flu about 7-10 days immediately following the shot.
I can only conclude that
a - he perhaps has the beginnings of the flu when he gets the shot, and the shot basically brings it on or cannot fight it.
b - the shot itself somehow gives him the flu (which sounds crazy).
Of course, he waits until he's totally bed-ridden before he calls his doctor. Then the doctor can't see him for a week because he's totally booked up, so we usually just pump him up with fluids and Robitussen until he is better. Then, as usual, I end up getting the flu as a pre-Christmas gift from DH. EVERY YEAR.
Do any of you have any knowledge about this? Can the shot actually bring on the flu?
