We are planning our next trip and we'll hopefully be renting pts from a DVCer. I know that members can now buy the dining plan, but is that option available to renters as well?

I just made reservations for my in-laws on points and they were allowed to add the dining plan - so I would assume that anyone staying on points can use the dining plan!!!

Thanks! Do you tell ms when you make the reservation or when you check-in that you want the dining plan?

You have to reserve it in advance, it cannot be added at check-in. You pay for it at check-in.

do you think the DDP can be used at VB or is it only for the WDW-area resorts?

FYI, I tried to add the dining plan on to trip booked @ 11 month window for Jan. '07, for DS but, was told it's not avail. to do so yet.

Hope it's just a matter of DVC extending the offer later in the year.

Anyone else have any luck yet?

Did anyone catch the wording in the new May Vacation Magic e-mail? It sounds like you can only sign up for the dining plan when you are first book your reservation. Wasn't expecting that....

Plan ahead for dining plan
Remember that, while the Disney Dining Plan is available to you through Member Services when you book your stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort (not applicable for The Disney Collection Resorts), you must book this prior to arrival.

You'll pay for your pre-booked plan upon check in, but the Front Desk Cast Member can't add the Disney Dining Plan to your existing reservation.

The Disney Dining Plan gives each person in your party one counter-service meal, one snack and one table-service meal for each night of your stay. Prices for 2006, including tax and gratuities, are $37.99 a night for adults and $10.99 a night for children ages 3-9.

I was in DW the first week of April and used the DDP and LOVED IT! I am a DVC member, too. All you have to do is call the same # you make reservations with and they can add it for you. You don't pay for it until you get to DW and I added mine just a week before I went. I went with a friend who was doing high protien diet so I wanted to take her places where she could get what she needed. We used menus from AllEarsNet so we were able to plan ahead where we wanted to eat so we weren't in a park and saying, "I'm hungry - I wonder where we should eat?" and then hope we could find someplace we liked and that met her needs. I found the value totally worth it, too. I know that every table service meal I had was more than the daily charge for the meal plan, esp. since it includes beverage, appetizer, entree, dessert, tax and 18% tip! I will use it every time I go for sure!

I don't read it that you have to book it when you make the reservation. I read it that you must book this prior to arrival (not at check-in). I added the dining plan to 2 of my reservations after I made the initial reservation.

I was specifically told by the CM who took my last reservation that you can add the dining plan by calling MS any time before check in.

I asked when we booked our trip, we were told at least 48 hours prior to check in.
