Can DVC points be used for value resorts?

Hi, New member of OKW here... I'm wondering if we can used points toward the all star movie resort? If so, how many points are they per night?

Here is a point chart I don't think the values qualify, but you can use points at the moderates tho some will advise you that isn't a wise choice of useage

What I usually do is pay cash at a value resort for the 1st weekend of our trip to save on points. For example in April of 07 I am planning to check into Pop Century for a Thurs, Fri, Sat night stay and then check out on Sunday and check into OKW for a 1 week stay. I just hate using points for weekends.

Another question I have is if I am one or two points short for a stay, do they allow you to pay the balance in cash?

You could pay for an entire night using cash (based on availability) but there is no mechanism to pay for a portion of one night using cash and the rest using points. If you are a few points short to complete a reservation, some have found success with a transfer thru our Rent/Trade board.

DVC points may be used at all Moderate and Deluxe WDW resorts (including the FW Cabins and Campground) - with the exception of any resort that has a DVC component. (Point stays are not available at BWI, WL or BC in addition to the Value resorts.)

Yes and if you have the AP discount usually you can get the moderates for almost the same price, as the values.

We always stay somewhere else on weekends.
We love the marriott time shares in the area.
If you book early you can get decent rates.

Nice to explore outside the world.

Also recommend checking mousesavers for info on discounts etc

I am going to use my DVC points to stay at Universal Cabana Bay. I have rented out some extra points and with the proceeding I'm going to book it for cash. If I can score an AP rate I'll pay 8-9 points per night. Decent conversion rate. It could be done for Disney values too.
