Can DS use DD's Fast Passes?

DS is 7 and will be able to ride Indiana Jones, Big Thunder, and Space Mountain. DD is 5 and will likely NOT ride those rides. BUT...both DH and I will want to ride those rides, so rather than one of us missing out, I was thinking we could use DD's entry ticket to get an extra Fast Pass for DS to use for a second ride. DH would ride with him the first time (while I watch DD), then I would ride with him the second time (while DH watches DD).

Is this feasible with the way Fast Passes work? I have seen samples of the passes on this forum, and they don't appear to be 'tied' to an individual. Could a CM refuse entry for my DS if he recognized him entering the ride a second time with another Fast Pass only moments later?

If fast passes aren't tied to an individual, then theoretically I could even get fast passes at the same time to two rides neither DD or I wanted to ride (without having to wait the 2 hour window) couldn't I? For example, DD & I have no interest in riding Splash Mountain or Buzz Lightyear, so...I could get 2 fast passes for Splash Mountain + 2 fast passes for Buzz Lightyear at the same time for DS and DH (the first time using DS and DH fast passes, and the second time using DD and my fast passes). They could do those rides during their return windows, while DD and I go do something 'Princessy'. Sound feasible, or would that be considered abusing the Fast Pass system?

That allows one group (in your case, adult plus DS) to ride, and then the other group goes (in your case, the other adult and DS again!), usually through the FP entrance, Single Rider entrance, or even the exit. Useful little thing, Rider Switch is...

Yeah, I've done that before...but in this case, she's tall enough for all the rides, just not BRAVE enough!

Some guests know that finding them on the ground is like finding dollars They know they can use them all day no problem.

We've still used the rider switch pass when DS was tall enough but not brave enough. We just ask the CM at the FP entrance for a child swap pass and they give it to us. We love this because it extends the FP fun.

On our last trip, last day, as I walked into DL someone offered me 3 fastpasses for Indy. I took them, of course, only to discover I did not have the time to use them (we had an airplane to catch). So, I wandered around right outside Indy, offering these three passes (good at that time), to anyone walking by.

It took me about five minutes to find a taker!

Finally someone coming out of the ride took them and got to go on again.

That is what we found, as well! The CMs are really great about giving a parent swap pass even if your child is tall enough. Our 4 year old DD is about 43" and loves SM, BTMRR, and Splash, but she can get iffy about the Matterhorn because she's scared of the yeti (Harold, the Abomidable Snowman). They gave us a parent swap with no questions or qualms.

Why wouldn't they take your fastpass. Is there a limit to how many times you can get one?

there is no limit to the number of FPs you can get, you just have to follow the times on the FPs before you can get another one. We have had many many FPs at the end of the day. lol And there is no link tying your FPs to your tickets, many times we've had extras when we left so we just gave them away, we've also been gifted with them ourselves. It's never been a problem to use them. Also be aware that you can use them after the time on the FP, ie if your FP return time is 5-6 pm then you can go ANY time after 5 (even after 6) and use them with no problems.

ya... this past weekend i found atleast 10 on top of FP machnes bc people thot that you had to enter the ride between the 2 times. everyone who goes should know that the disney lawyers couldn't make a rule that the second time was mandatory. you can save as many as you can get and just ride until you can't ride anymore.

also i miss when m brother was young and couldn't ride the rides... they had child swap where you would go to a different ride (eg: splash mtn to get BTM passes) each adult could ride with their big kid.

For example-All of you pull FP (4)for a ride. Then, ANYTIME after the first return time on your FP, you and your DS use a FP for the ride. As you enter the FP entrance ask for a Rider Switch pass (most CMs will want to see the non-rider). When you get off the ride give the Rider Switch to your DH for he and your DS to use. Enter through FP or exit (depends on ride). At this point you and your DH have ridden once and your DS has ridden twice. Do the same thing over again. With your 4 FP and 2 Rider Switch Passes you and your DH will have ridden twice and your DS 4 times. And you don't have to do the ride all in a row. Take a break and come back to do it again. That way DD won't be sitting out too long.

I've done similar things. Twice I've been given front-of-the-line passes for various inconveniences suffered. The first time we got one (both were valid for up to six people) we found a guy and his young son hesitant to get in line for Peter Pan (long wait, of course) and it was late. We asked him if they'd like to ride. They did and we brought them along. A sort of Disney wealth sharing.

More recently (about two weeks ago), we helped a woman and her young daughter get on Soarin' when they discovered that there were no FPs left and the standby line was 45 minutes.

It's nice to help fellow Disney-goers, especially when they're appreciative .

I was a little confused about your post at first. I had to read it over a few times before I got the math straight in my head... , but then when I did, I realized how useful those rider switch passes can be!!!
