Can DME just leave luggage with bell services

I think you can. Unless this has changed recently, after a certain time at night, this is what they do automatically. Not sure what the time is.

After you check in, talk to bell services and they can hold it for you and bring it up to your room the next day. We just did this at WL in February. We had an early day at the parks the next day so they just told us to stop at bell services when we got back from the park and they'd bring up our luggage. Worked very well.

Or just claim your own luggage and bring it with you to DME. That's what we plan to do so we can unpack and get to bed once we arrive at our resort. We want to be up early for the parks the next morning!

Yes, I did this last year. When you arrive, tell Bell Services (they're open 24/7) to hold your luggage at the desk, & you'll pick it up the next morning.

Yes, and this is an important step
Bell Services has no problems with holding your bags for you. But, shifts change and sometimes the word doesn't always make it and someone brings the bags any way. The Do Not Disturb sign will be added insurance that someone doesn't bring them accidently

Good point, but we have a somewhat unique situation (for us, anyway). We are staying only one night at AoA - literally getting in at about 9pm and heading to the parks the next day and then staying at the Beach Club for eight nights. So I don't even want to have to deal with dragging our luggage back and forth to the room and would just rather it stay with the bell services folks so we can then transfer it to BC the following morning.

We do this exact step often, arriving late, stay in a value for a single night and then moving the next day to another resort.
We always ask them to hold our bags. Then in the morning we take our carry on bags to them and have them move all the bags, those from ME and our carry on bags, to the next resort. We spend the day in the park and by the time we head to our new resort, all the bags are there
It's never been an issue, seems to be something that happens often.

We had the opposite thing happen. Due to a cancelled flight, my Mom's luggage showed up at the airport several hours after she did, and there was only a shred of the DME tag left on it. They found the bag, found me through her name on her luggage tag. I think they called five people with the same last name before finding me. By this time it was 11 pm. They gave me the option of having it delivered to the room in the morning, or delivering it as soon as it arrived. We chose to get it as soon as possible, and bell services brought it up at 1PM. Bell services is awesome, and I was impressed the DME was so diligent about finding the owner of this stray bag.

So the moral is: some people want it right away. Some people want it delayed. You just have to tell them which you prefer.
