It's been 20 years without a new theme park in Walt Disney world Should Disney make a 5th theme park if so what theme should it be?

I can see Disney building a new park but only once they have finished re-investing in their current parks and fully fleshed them out.
I love speculating on this topic but a lot of dis veterans gleefully shoot down this sort of board SHAME ON THEM!

AK finally added a full compliment of lands and added night-time elements although Dino-land could use some sprucing
MK needs updates in Tomorrowland which should be ready by 2021 don't forget Monorail Refurb likely done 2022
DHS, which was originally intended as a half day experience will be up to date at the tail end of 2019 (but honestly they will still need more capacity... I would expect an expansion to Galaxy's edge and/or a new land in 2022-3
EP much loved but has been the can kicked down the road by Disney with many fun festivals (it works on me) being a band-aid to lure guests...
its getting:
Guardians Coaster 2020
C ticket attraction in UK 2020?
New version of Illuminations 2019-20
Gondolas at the IG 2019
Ratatouille ride in France 2020-21
Space Restaurant 2021
new China movie 2020
it still needs... (these are all complete guesses on my part, I have no real info on them)
-a new attraction and movie in imagination pavilion ? 2022
-a new attraction in Mexico pavilion 2021-2023
-something in Wonders of Life Pavilion 2024
-to tear down/ redo innoventions (They should Blow them up this christmas using the holiday tag of illuminations in my opinion)
-move the legacy stones 2021?
-spruce up/modernize the seas 2021?
-1-2 new countries in World Showcase 2022-2028

Capacity is definitely becoming more and more of an issue at the current parks... eventually it will happen. My guess: 2030 or thereabouts, once Universal announces a 3rd gate Disney will need to counter.

The question is, with what?

I think they could do a whole park that was music themed. Everything from Fantasia to movie soundtracks to Radio Disney. There's a lot they could pull from, and I can see a lot of interactive attractions

I think it would be neat to see a Disneysea in Florida... I just wonder if the concept would be too similar to what's already in Epcot and AK (Think Nemo show, the seas and the lagoon concept)... they would have to tweak the lands in the US and maybe move/ remove certain attractions there

I know a Villains idea is often brought up, but I cant see Disney doing that, nor a Marvel Park, Disney doesn't like to put too many eggs in one basket in terms of IP (think Star Wars)

From another perspective, Disney indeed does have a 5th Gate that has been incredibly successful: Disney Springs
The attractions are just restaurants, stores, and shows (Cirque and VR) and admission and parking is free... The resources that they have expended there certainly mirror that of a 5th Gate, and it has been successful... I don't see why they wouldn't eventually move on to a 5th or from this perspective 6th gate

Not possible by any means, but I think it would be cool to have "Epcot" be an international park where there is pavilions of each country. Similar to world showcase but much bigger. (I know this goes against any value of what Epcot was started on hence the quotations.) And I think a 5th gate could be themed to a mix of future world and tomorrowland merged into one park. Then tomorrowland could be converted into something called "Walts World" to learn about the history of him and put an original attraction with upgraded technologies. Perhaps a premier dark ride and a mediocre thrill ride.

intersting thought... with guardians going in i doubt it would ever happen but i too would think lengthening the showcase lagoon and getting rid of futureworld all the way to spaceship earth would be neat and then double the countries, it wouldnt ever happen but one can dream

I don't think any Theme Park should have a specific theme. For example a Star Wars theme is too much, but a Galactic Theme Park would work. You need to have something with a broad category so there is flexibility for improvement and change. Also, similar to the effect that SW draws new people in, it may draw people who are not SW fans out, which is why it is imo never a good idea to base an entire park off one specific theme.
