Can DDE be used with Imagineer luncheon?

Does anyone know if you can use your Disney Dining Experience card with the Imagineer Lunch or Dinner at the Brown Derby at MGM?

It can't. They look at this as event, not a meal. Sorry. (we've tried both times we've done the lunch)
