Can DCL change my total price?

I booked my April '05 7 day Magic in December 2003 on DCL's website. I put down the required deposit ($1000 for 4 ppl). I just checked my reservation since my balance is due 2/15 and noticed a discrepancy between my current bill and the invoice they sent me in 12/03. It only amounts to about $35 in total, so I am not really concerned, but it does seem strange. Doesn't my reservation and deposit lock in my cost? What else could cause this to change?

Hmmmm...I don't know for sure. Tax or port charge increase possibly?

Someone else had that happen and it was port charges that had increased.

I had to pay a little more too and was told it has to do with a tax rate increase. This is beyond DCL's control, unfortunately.

taxes, port fees or security fees. I had bought airfare, upon departure from the island, was told to cough up another 5 bucks pp for security fees!! Irritated yes, but hey, if they are getting tougher on screening well worth it!

Basically, your fare was locked in when you booked. Everything else is taxes of one sort or another and subject to change.

This happened to us as well on our Nov 6, 2004 Western. You do lock in your cruise fare when you place a deposit, but port charges, taxes, etc are out of DCL's control. One or all of the ports you're schedules to dock at probably raised their port charges.

If port charges increase, you are responsible for them; (its in your fine print somewhere); also, they can add a gas surcharge if gas prices are unreasonably high when you travel (which they probably were)
