A couple of years ago I went to Disney with a friend of mine who was breastfeeding. We stayed at Pop, and if I remember correctly she was able to get a complimentary fridge due to being a breastfeeding mother, so she could store her breastmilk, etc. I really wasn't paying too much attention at the time since babies were not on my radar screen, but does anyone know if this is true?

no,when my dd3 was a baby we needed a fridge for her formula (pre made) and we had to pay for it...I think it is a personal choice.

I am a bit confused, as a breastfeeding mom myself, why I would need to store breastmilk on vacation-unless I was traveling without my baby. However, if you are having to pump and bottlefeed exclusively-like your baby has a feeding issue-maybe if your doctor wrote a note, they'd accomodate you? Worth a call.

I could see why you might want to have a bottle or two of breastmilk in the fridge, maybe for restaurants or places you that a bottle would be easier than nursing. (We've never supplemented with formula).

We also talked about myself and DD staying at the parks late while DH went back to the room with the baby. It would be nice for him to have a bottle to give her if he needed to.

Sorry I don't know the answer about the fridge, but it sounds like you might end up having to pay for one. What about looking into a fridge swap - are those still allowed on here? :confused3 Bottles would probably stay cool on ice in a cooler for awhile, too.

I agree-We went while I was still nursing my youngest and had no need to store my milk. Just one of the many beauties of breastfeeding
No bottles, No mixing, No storing!!

I got a free fridge at Pop Century twice because I was breastfeeding. I requested it, and received it and wasn't billed for it. I just said, "I need it for breastfeeding reasons." Wwe had 3 kids, and I wanted to be able to stay in the parks with the older kids sometimes while the youngest took a nap. So either DH or Mom would take her back to the hotel and give her the bottle.

That would be awesome. I work FT and so my baby is bottle fed breastmilk when I am away from him. My body is used to providing for the pump after he nurses each morning and I need the milk from each morning for our stock. I've been wondering how I would deal with not being able to store the morning pumping session while at Disney because I don't want to pay for a fridge. I'm going to ask when we arrive and see what happens.

I can see where it wouldn't hurt to ask and depending on the cm they might give it to you for free.

Now from personal experience you'll have to get your baby to accept a bottle to use that stored milk!!!!! My DS REFUSED bottles, only momma would do!! And believe me we tried to get him to use a bottle so I wasn't his only source of food, but he was stubborn...still can be. :rotfl:

I think the reason my friend requested the fridge was so she could store pumped breastmilk. If I remember at that time her baby was transitioning to sleeping longer at night and she was pumping one of the feedings. I don't have any experience with breastfeeding yet, but I was curious about the fridge issue just in case I would be in a situation like that come April. Thanks for your responses, and sharing your experiences, I agree that it wouldn't hurt to ask.

that would be called pump and dump. been there, done it.

I understand the convenience of having a fridge, but for most examples above, it isn't a medical necessity. I wouldn't expect a free fridge, but if it happened, I'd be thankful to someone for making it happen.

For me, one of the beauties of nursing is the lack of needing a fridge, clean bottles, etc. How are you planning on heating it from the fridge ? Or do they take it cold ?

Warm water in a sink warms a bottle up just fine.

That is what we did too.

I agree there is nothing simpler than having ready made bottles attached to your body for convenient feeding. I nursed my baby all over the place in Disney. ( Discretely of course) I think the best ride for it was the TTA. We rode it several times in a row.

Hall of Presidents is better! Or the movie in France. Very rarely a full house there. And the music is pleasant to listen to.

Nursing moms who work full time still pump on the same schedule on the weekends, so why not on vacation?? It is important to do it on the same schedule to maintain adequate supply for the baby while mom is at work. They should provide a fridge for that, even though it seems from these posts that they don't.

If they have baby with them why wouldn't they just feed baby when they would normally pump?

WHO CARES!!! if the woman wants to know if they will provide a fridge for her, then just answer her! she wasn't looking for opinions on whether or not she should be storing breastmilk while on vacation!

i don't know why people are questioning her! i am bf'ing my son now and i think it's really rude for people to question her! she obviously thinks she needs one so just answer her darn question! gah!

I think the PP was legitmately curious not being mean, and I think people need to lighten up.I admit I could't BF my daughter , and had issues so it is interesting to me, so I had the same question:confused3 I am glad we are so understanding
