Can Ariel give a b-day gift?

We are planning a trip to WDW Jan 4-8, 2007 for the marathon. My DD8 will be having her 9th b-day on Saturday, Jan 6th, and I want to plan some special things for her. We already have a b-fast ressie at CRT for 8:30a. She is absolutely crazy about the Little Mermaid and Ariel. I was wondering if I could bring a b-day present for DD (maybe the Little Mermaid DVD or some Ariel jewlery which would be small and easy to sneak into my pack), give it to a CM at Ariel's Grotto, ask the CM to had it to Ariel to give to my DD when she meets her. I think my DD would absolutely love it if I could pull this off. Maybe Ariel could even sign the DVD too after DD opens it. What do you all think? Is this possible?

Its Disney, I`m sure they would! If you are staying onsite, tell them when you check in that you are celebrating her birthday and that Ariel is her favorite princess, and they will provide balloons and a birthday card from Ariel in your room on her special day. (you could also arrange the present to be sent with) HTH

There's only one problem with your plan. Little Mermaid comes out in October. Your dd is sure to see it on tv or in the stores. If you can possibly hold off giving it to her from October through December, she's sure to ask for it for Christmas. Just thinking of my dd begging me for something she just loooovess. Oh, yeah, and there's also me - I just can't wait half the time! lol

Oh yeah, she's already "expecting" to get it for this Christmas - ever since the younger daughter got Cinderella last Christmas. However, I thought that might be part of the surprise. She's expecting to get it for Christmas but doesn't, and then the next week (which is her b-day) she gets it from Ariel herself.

While I think that is cute I wouldn't do it at the groto- think of the kids on line behind your dd- seeing her get a present. Imagine all the eplaining the parents on line will have to do as to why their child isn't getting a present. Perhaps you could do it at a princess breakfast when it wouldn't be as obvious?

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that they won't allow you to do that for the reasons mentioned. The characters can't give a gift to one child and not another. BUT Ariel could "send a gift to your room" the evening after you get to meet her with a note saying "I was so happy to get to meet you today! I hope you are having fun on your vacation. Thanks so much for stopping by to see me." or something like that.

When we were in Disney in December for DD5's birthday we told them that it was her birthday on Dec. 30th and Ariel sent her a card that she had signed for her. So I would give it to the front desk let them give her the gift and card and they could have Ariel sign the movie. Or you could give her the movie and take it with you to Ariels's grotto and let her sign it there. You could tell her it is from Ariel and she could "Thank" Ariel for it. My daughter thanked Ariel for her card and Ariel didn't miss a beat. Told her she was so glad she got it. Hope this helps!

This does NOT always happen. Please do not expect it, and just be surprised if you get a little pixie dust.

I really like your idea!

I know I would hate to have to try explaining to my broken hearted daughters why a Disney Princess gave a girl in line ahead of them a gift and didn't give them one. I can understand wanting your daughter to feel special on her special day, but it could confuse other children and hurt their feelings.
