Can AP be activated at hotel at time of check-in?

Booking a room to get the express pass and do not plan on using the room. Can I activate the pass at the hotel?

Yes, there's a ticket desk in the lobby of all the onsite hotels. You will need to stop the check-in desk to pick up your room keys (those are your express passes) and then also stop by the separate hotel ticket desk for the AP.

You can pick up your AP at the hotel. It won't be activated until 1st used. You don't qualify for an AP discount until your pass is activated. I found that out when I couldn't get an AP discount at citywalk on my way to the studios

Just wanted to chime in you can pick it up at the hotel if it is paid in full. If you have used the monthly payment program you have to go to guest services outside the park...at last that's how it was last August.

You can still get a hotel discount on a non activated annual pass.

The hotels dont really do much checking or validation that you are actually still an annual passholder in my experience. The validation is that the universal site blocks you up front from seeing the annual pass room slots.

I dont think thats actually true... you can book through https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/annual-passes/hotel-guide or directly through Loews using code APH without any sort of verification. You are supposed to show your pass at check in but i have never been asked (I still have one, not worth the risk!)
