Devine is a person on stilts, painted green, covered with leaves, looks like a kudzu vine until she detaches herself from a tree and takes a few steps. Usually found in the area between Africa and Asia in Animal Kingdom. Quite remarkable to see, and much better than a ride on Whatever Whirl.
Thanks for the site! I have seen her, but didn't know her name. At the time, we hadn't heard anything about her, and it was quite a shock! Kind of a can't tell if you are seeing what you think you are seeing, type thing. I will definitely be looking for her in June! Thanks again!
I wish I had a link to a picture because one picture would be worth a 1000 words in this instance. Perhaps someone else can do that for you.
I'll do my best in words. It's an act. Most of the time she appears at the beginning of the park inside. She's spotted often by Rainforest Cafe and the entrance pathway where the birds are located and near the bridge that gets you to the different sections of the park.
Anyway, she's a human vine. She's able to stand very still and it appears that she's part of the landscape. She has a great costume that really blends in with the environment there. All of sudden, she'll grab you in a hug or similar and you are absolutely startled by her in the process. I never see her pose with anyone; so, you have to be quick with the camera to catch her. Also, it seems if there's too big of an audience she will disappear and come back at another time.
I consider her to be an exceptional performer. You never forget her once you see her. My husband was caught in her clutches and I never laughed so hard in my life with the look on his face. What's simply amazing is that she's so graceful looking and she never utters a word but gives a lasting impression to all who see her.
I don't think there's a scheduled time to see her. You just have to be lucky enough to catch her act.
I really really wanted to see De Vine on my trip last week. DH and friend went to the Safari to get fast passes, while I went to Dinoland with friend and kids, and HE saw her and I never did the rest of the day
I had never heard of her when I saw her last year. Pretty much scares the snot out of you at first. She is probably one of the neatest things I've seen at WDW. I got some pics and everyone is amazed by them.
