Can anyone tell me about vow renewal ceremonies?

DH and I would love to renew our vows in 2 years. We want just us and the kids there. I looked on the wdw site and it says there is a minimum cost of $10,000? Did I read that correctly? We just want a ceremony and a cake. Can anyone here fill me in? Thanks!

Welcome to the Wedding/Honeymoon boards. What you probably want is an Escape package. I believe they start at about $4K. Check it out on the disneyweddings site. The guest limit is 18, 20 counting you and DH. Check it out! You may find a package you can live with. DH and I are doing a Wishes package in November of this year.

That was my exact reaction about 2 months ago! I asked the same question, and got the same answer. Go for the Escape package, for $4k. We will also have just us and our kids, Maybe my parents, but i doubt it. Our is April 2010, when are you planning yours?? Any ideas where you want it? Good luck!

welcome. Like has already been stated you can do an escape which starts at $4K but has limitations on what days and number of guests etc or wishes which you were first writing about. We originally planned on having an escape but now we are planning for a wishes in 7/ 2010. Best of luck and have fun planning. there is alot of wonderful info here and helpful brides.

Thank you! 4K is much better! We would like to do it in December 2010. It would be the 6 of us. We would love to have it in front of the castle but if not there then the WL or Poly. I think we would like to have a castle photo shoot with us and the kids as well. I appreciate any info.

By all means check out the DFTW website(I believe only bride and groom are allowed for the MK photo shoot).

Mousesavers.com has a great section on WDW weddings with nice pictures of all the locations and some good ideas about dining if you are doing an Escape package.

Congrats! We're doing a vow renewal too. We had originally planned on the $29.95 drive thru special in Las Vegas, but then we thought the kids wouldn't appreciate an Elvis impersonator as much as they would Mickey Mouse. But man oh man, did the budget ever explode! WDW used to have a "rehitching ceremony" I heard at some Sundae place, just a really simple vow renewal. I would have totally been into that, but they canceled that policy.

Escape (aka Intimate) Weddings are the least expensive way to go if you want an official Disney Wedding. There are also ceremonies available at the Swan and Shades of Green (for military families) and other Orlando venues which are far less expensive than Disney. Honestly I don't think that you'll be able to have a ceremony in front of the Castle (which is what everyone dreams of when they think "Disney wedding"). I only know of one DisBride who did that, and she had to jump through a ton of hoops, and do it at off-hours. But if you do book a Disney wedding, you are allowed to book a photo shoot in front of the Castle (I think it costs about $1100 extra) very early in the morning. With the Escape package you get a choice of 5 set venues, a violinist, a bouquet, a boutinerre, a cake that feeds 20, a champagne bottle that feeds 6, 2 annual passes, four hours of limo and a Disney photographer and 2 5x7 prints.

You have to pay for your own officiant ($150-$250) and any kind of reception/dinner you have. We're doing a sand ceremony too ($25).

Oh and I had asked about our 3 kids being in an MK photo shoot and they said they strictly enforce only bride and groom. I was even willing to pay extra for that but they said no and that it was because the MK photo shoot is so early in the morning (like 4:30 AM!) and it is very rushed to get all the pictures done before the park opens, so the children are unlikely to be good participants given the circumstances.

That's true, but boy would I have loved a picture of my kids in front of the Castle in costumes.
