Hi, first time poster here! I think this board is wonderful and I have been able to get so much useful information here!! My family and I are taking a trip to Disneyland to celebrate my son's 1st birthday next month, and I made reservations at the Castle Inn and Suites for a family suite since there are 6 of us. Can anyone give me a review, and also tell me whether this hotel is truly within walking distance? I wasn't able to find it on the Good Neighbor hotel map, and although the hotel staff I spoke to said that it is a short walk, I'd rather hear from someone who actually stayed there. Thanks!:goodvibes

We stayed here in December of '05 and I wish I had listened to the Trip Adviser reports. It was gross! The carpet was sticky, the towels were paper thin and so rough. The walls were thin and we had to ask management 4 times for one extra pillow. The pool area was straight out of a 70's movie and the staff was so unfriendly.

Stay away!!

It is, however, in nice walking distance to the parks. Maybe 8 or 9 minutes.

We've stayed there several times (a year apart) and had no problems. Its definately walking distance, about a block and 1/2 to the main entrance. My girls love it b/c the "castle" facade is all lit up at night and we get to come back to sleep in our own castle at the end of the day.

The pool seemed fine to me (they have a big one and baby pool) laundry room was fine. They don't offer any breakfasts or other meals but there is a 7/11 across the street.

It used to be nice for what it is (no-frills motel, but decorated like a castle); it used to be where I'd stay when visiting the Park. Well. Having not needed to stay in a hotel/motel for Park visits due to living within close driving distance for several years, I hadn't been there in a LONG time. Since I now live in AZ, i again needed a place nearby to stay. So, I booked a room in December of last year and...wow...the place has really gone downhill! The carpets were FILTHY, there were EARWIGS in the bathroom sink and tub (YUCK!!!!), and there was....blood...on the bedsheets :scared1:

It used to be nice. But now it's unacceptable!

When we were booking our trip (leaving on Thursday, yay!) a review on one of the sites from early July said they found bedbugs. That was enough for me to decide to stay elsewhere.

i almost booked there but thank god i didnt heard so many bad things about it im glade i said no

I've never stayed there because of the awful reviews.

Have you checked out www.anaheimdesertinn.com ? I've stayed there several times and they are ok.

I've recently discovered www.anaheimplazahotel.com . They are your basic no frills kind of hotel, but they are clean, close and the staff is nice. They are almost always cheaper than everyone else. I'm staying there next week (just the girls this time, so no suite) and a regular room was $49! I think the 2 room 4queen/2bath was $98 a night.

SpaceMermaid,

OMG! blood on the sheets, were they stains that had not come out? or did it look like you should place crime scene tape around it? (shudder
)

oh, and it sounds like the health department should shut them down, until management does a better job of just that.

Oh my goodness, I am so glad I asked!!! I will definitely be looking for somewhere else to stay after reading all of this! We are definitely on a budget, but I am already really grossed out about the thought of all the germs in hotel rooms so I need somewhere CLEAN at the very least! Thank you so much for all the replies, I guess I'll need to do some more research.

We had a similar stay in '05, we will NOT go back. We also had sticky dirty carpets. No TV for 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed there (cable was out for that long). When we arrived the water wasn't even working, but thankfully that only lasted an hour or two. There were a lot of people complaining besides us. We were always told the manager was never there to talk to, and would contact us. They never did. Just an awful stay.

No crime scene, I think what happened is that someone had "that time of the month" during their stay, and housekeeping didn't change the sheets before I checked in. It was right in the middle of the bed. Yuck!

It's too bad, *** I really did used to like that hotel.

I'm going to second the previous poster who suggested checking out the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. It's nothing fancy, but it IS clean, affordable, and within walking distance to the Park. Plus, front desk & housekeeping are very pleasant & helpful!

I also like the private balconies/gardens that most rooms have! And the HUGE swimming pool & hot tub :beach:

Ok I am checking out this hotel online right now and it seems like the family suite would work for us... So it is within walking distance? I can't find it on the Disneyland area hotel map I have, can someone tell me what it is next to?

It's right next door to the Castle, one hotel closer to the gates. Look on this map, http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html it has links to all the hotels.

What are your dates? You might be able to get connecting rooms at HoJo for the Entertainment rate of $59 a night. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14
