This sound fun! Might be a good night out for me and my husband. What time do you have to arrive to get a seat? How crowded is it usually? (We are going in August). Is it a bar type atmosphere? I don't really llike the smokey bar type scene... I would love to hear from anyone that has been there!

Jellyrolls is a lot of fun. Dueling pianos with excellent musicians. Crowds are light early- but it gets VERY busy later. We liked it a lot- hung out for hours. Yes, it is a bar-type atmosphere. $7.00 cover as I recall, but no drink minimum.

Blessings :)

I have spent many a night at Jellyrolls :) Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar. Two pairs of piano players alternate every other hour between 8:00 p.m. and 1:45 a.m.

The crowd at Jellyrolls is usually pretty light until about 9:30-10:00. I love the first 60-90 minutes when there are less than 20 people in the bar, and the piano players jabber away with the audience, and let you shout out requests.

It usually starts getting crowded around 9:30, and most nights it's a pretty happening place. You'll hear lots of Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffet, Elton John, and pretty much anything you can sing along to. I've never been there on a night where there hasn't been a great crowd of folks singing along, and dancing. The waitstaff even jumps onstage to lead the audience in some dances throughout the night, and you can bet anyone celebrating an occassion will be dragged onstage and embarassed.

The piano players are all very talented. My favorites are Scotty and Ray, and I highly suggest trying to catch them if you can. You can go to www.thepianomen.com to check out the schedule. The schedule comes out about a week or two in advance. If you see Scotty, say hello from Karen in Boston :)

There is a $7 cover charge. They do not serve food at Jellyrolls--unless you count the free oversalted popcorn. Doors open at 7:00, pianos start at 8:00. It's 21 plus.

If you have any further questions, let me know.

Karen

Thanks to Karen for the great description! I think I will definitely do this on my trip!

:D TLindenj16...I ahve seen alot of your responses about Jellrolls here and have one question. DW and I are planning on going to JR on 12/4/04. Since this is considered slow season will JR still be hopping?? IF so should we get there before 9:30?:D

Thanks

Well guess what, Steve, I too am planning on going to Jellyrolls on 12/4/04, so perhaps you'll see me there :) I'm going to be with at least one other DISer, and wouldn't be surprised if a few more joined us :)

If you want a table on the lower level, I would suggest getting there by 9:30. Otherwise you may only be able to sit on a bar stool in the back or a high top table in the back.

Also, that is a Saturday night, and Saturdays tend to be a bit more busy there then say a Sunday or Monday night.

Hope to see ya there!

Karen
