Can anyone recommend nonDisney excursions for E caribbean?

DH and DD were looking into doing the Pinel Island snorkel tour on St. Maarten, and would like any feedback on this tour.

Can anybody recommend any places in St. Maarten and St. Thomas where one may take a cab and snorkel on their own?

I booked my own excursion for the Western (they do Eastern too) at shoretrips.com. Take a look at their website. I learned about them from Disboards and it worked out great for me. I am just trying to pass on the info to others. We were very pleased with their service and would definitely use them again. Have fun!

We did the Golden eagle Catamaran thru DCL. I highly recommend it, it was awsome.

We LOVED our St. Thomas Daysail. We booked the Ike Witt and Captain Maxine (the boat was the Lou). They took us (two families) from the American Harbor Dock (took a taxi over) and we sailed for about 2 hours and then anchored in St. John. They took us to a private beach area, we snorkeled and the kids played on the beach, we then got back on for lunch and headed back.

It was relaxing and nice to be alone.
