Hey guys! I've got a dumb question, that I thought I knew the answer to until tonight, when a potential buyer/friend told me otherwise.

you know that $75 fee they charge you when you stay outside Disney, like say at a resort in Vegas or something? He said that the Disney rep told him that you pay that $75 fee to stay at any DVC resort other than your home resort. But I thought there was no charge to stay at any DVC resort.

Anyone?

There is no fee to stay at any DVC resort. There is a fee (now $95) to exchange out, like to use your points for the cruise, or other non-dvc exchanges.

ok so if our home resort is BCV then this is how it would play out....

stay at okw, no charge

stay at HH, no charge

Stay at VB, no charge

Go to London, pay $95 fee

Cruise, pay $95 fee

stay at GF, pay $95????

stay at WL villas, no fee

have I got this right?

Absolutely NOT. There is no fee of any kind to stay at any of the DVC resorts using DVC points.

I've been a member since '93, have stayed at all of the resorts several times each. There is no fee.

I'm certain the Disney Rep would not have said that. Undoubtedly, as in the movie 'cool hand Luke' , somewhere there was most likely a, "Failure to Communicate". :p

Also, there is no fee to use points to stay at any of the WDW hotels. (The ones listed in the member's guide book...These are all the WDW hotels on property except the Value hotels such as the All Stars)

This includes the WDW hotels, the Disneyland hotels, and even the Disneyland Paris hotels.

i believe there is no fee for using points to reserve a stay at any WDW resort, DL resort, or DLP resort (such as GF, Poly, Grand Calif, Sequoia Lodge etc.).

The fee for a DCL cruise is still the $75. Only the CC, II, and Adventurers Collection trades went up to $95.

II is still only $75, only CC and Adventurers went up, so far.

Gosh, my guide definitely gave me the wrong info. When they sent out emails about the price increase I could have sworn she had II listed as $95. Glad to hear it is still $75.

Here's the "word" from the Member Site on the new charge.

Changes to the Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection Booking Fees

Certain Member Getaways bookings are subject to a nonrefundable transaction fee, which helps to cover the costs associated with these bookings. To offset the rising costs of processing Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection reservations, transaction fees for these bookings have increased to $95 effective May 1, 2003. All other transaction fees remain the same, including vacation exchanges made through Interval International®. Please note that there is no additional fee required for existing reservations. However, if a reservation made before May 1, 2003, is changed, this is considered a cancellation and new reservation that would require paying the new fee.
