Can anyone help settle a disagreement

Currently having a disagreement, a family member over booking.

I have a use year starting august.

I have banked my remaining points into
Use year 2011 leaving me with 374

Could I book a cruise now for 2011 using 265 points.

Then at the correct window slot book my dvc accommodation borrowing points from 2012. Which would leave me with some points left over.

Hopefully I am right and I can go ahead and book the cruise and follow with accommodation.

Whereas the family member believes I can not do this

Yes, you should be able to make a cruise reservation (based on availability) using your banked 2010 points and points current for 2011 as long as the cruise is after August 1, 2011. Once within the appropriate 11/7 reservation window, you could also make other reservations and borrow points from your 2012 Use Year (again, for stays after August 1, 2011).

You'd win even more if you'd rent out your points and use cash to pay for the cruise instead. It is likely to be much cheaper that way with fewer restrictions on your reservation.

So are most of us until we decide to do it. The DIS is a great resource for info. Go to the rent/trade board and check the stickies there for help on what to do. Personally, I prefer to transfer points to fellow owners instead of renting to non owners.

Yes, but you may only be able to use those banked points if that cruise falls within the 2011 UY.

Yep, UY aug, and cruise is Nov
