Can anyone give some Priceline tips for newbie?

HI all!
We have our DCL booked for March 2012 and plan on staying on site at POP for the 4 nts before.

The first 3 nts. are going to be off site, and I'm thinking we'll have to rent a car for those days. So I'm looking for a good hotel and a better deal!

I've been getting emails about Priceline deals and have never used them. I'm a little confused, but would love to get at least a 2 star for a 1 star price!

They advertise the Rodeway Inn for $26/nt, but it's gotten some negative reviews that are a bit scary!

If I name my price, is it for a specific hotel, or any in the star range? If I don't like the hotel that came up, can I back out?

For you experienced priceline users, how do I do this??

There is a good website that might help you called betterbidding.com. You can see what people are getting on priceline and for what price. They also have hotels listed for each star category and area so you might have a better idea of which hotels you might get. Good luck!

Any hotel in the star range (or above) in the geographic area you select.

No backing out, all sales are instant and final.

Just another note - I've used both hotwire and lastminutetravel to book hotels at discounted rates and have been very pleased with both! I've gotten some really good deals - don't think I'll ever pay rack rate for a hotel again.

I would never bid on anything under a 3*. You choose the area you want and bid low. Start out early, because you will have to wait 24 hours. Or you can bid again if you add another area. I got the Holiday Inn Maingate to Universal for $45/night next Wednesday and Thursday night.
