Is free dining in Sept available to anyone booking a trip tp DW? Any catches?

Well, it depends on which Free Dining in September you mean

If you mean right now, the catch is the only way to get it is with the Disney Visa card as listed on the Discounts section here on the DIS:

If you mean Free Dining next year in September (2009), so far the catch is that you have to book it as a Bounceback by staying in a WDW resort prior to October 24, 2008, and booking it for stays next year between 8/23-10/8/09 before you check out.

Or if you're not at WDW to book a Bounceback, the catch is you have to wait until probably around next April (2009) when a Free Dining offer comes out again to book ahead for September (2009). And then the catch with that is that they usually offer it to Disney Visa cardholders first, then offer it to the general public about 3 days later, so availability might not be all that great.

The final catch on FD is that you usually have to book it as a package, you have to pay rack rate (no discounts, thought this might be changing based on the Disney Visa offer above), everyone in your party has to be on the same package, and everyone has to purchase at least a one day ticket.

Since 2005, Disney has been offering the Free Dining promo for Magic Your way packages with a 3 night minimum and a 14 day maximum (Basic Dining Plan; 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 Snack per person per night) during the last part of August until the end of September, give or take a few days. The free dining offer is usually announced during the first week of April. The first couple of days it will only be open to Disney Visa holders and then will open up to the general public.
