Not a clue why the two different size guidelines. So is a boys 6 equal to a men’s 6? I thought a men’s 6 was bigger.
Yes, boy's and men's 6 is the same. I started buying men's running shoes for my boys when they reached size 6 because the quality in men's shoes is vastly superior.
My boys are currently a size 6 or 7, depending on shoe, and I always buy them men's styles because there are more options. Hard to find men's 6 though. Have to buy online for the most part. Most retailers only carry men's 7 and up, sometimes only 8 and up.
The one big difference between a boys size 6 shoe and a mens size 6 shoe is the width, boys shoes tend to be narrower.
I have been this size most of my adult life. I am thankful for it as regular 0 doesn't fit me the majority of the time. It was very hard when I was a young adult to find clothing because it was before 00 became a size. I get that you think it should just start at 0, but when the 0's don't fit I am happy for the 00 (otherwise I have to go to girls dept which is even harder with hips and not wanting childlike clothing.)
Also, re: vanity sizing and 00 size.
The clothing is still the same size, just the numbers have changed. What used to be a size 8 in the late 50's is now a 0 or 00.
This Washington Post article has some good graphs showing the changes in numbering while this Time.com article has some real-life comparisons using some famous women as examples. Twiggy was a 1967 size 8 but today would be a 00.
