can you goto any resort restaurants if you are only visting the theme parks and not staying on site,or are just just for residents.

ANYONE can eat at any resort restaurant, whether resort guests or not. Tell the guards you are eating at one of the resort restaurants. You will be given a short-term parking pass at the resort (usually 3 hours or so)... you park your car, and there you are!

First, welcome to the DIS Boards. This is a great place to ask questions about WDW.

In answer to your question, yes anybody can eat at the resort restaurants. Frankly, I encourage you to do so. There are many fine one's to choose from, and its' a great way to see the inside of a resort at the same time. Some of our favorate ones are Artist Point at WL, 1900 Park Fair at GF, Ohana's at the Poly, or Chef Mickey's at CR. There are obviously many more to choose from. I'd pick a couple and try them.

It is great to take a break from the parks and have lunch at a resort away from the crowds!

For example: At Magic Kingdom? Take the monorail to the Poly for lunch at Kona Cafe or go to the Grand Floridian and eat at the cafe.

At Epcot or MGM? Take a boat ride (your feet will say AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH) over to the Beach Club for lunch at Beaches and Cream. Or try ESPN at the Boardwalk.

There are some real good restaurants in the hotels. 1900 Park Faire, O'hanas, Gulivers, I could go on and on. We always arrive real early or hang out after when we visit hotel eateries. You can even plan your day around a monorail hotel restaurant.
