Can an AP rate ever beat the FTP?

I presently have a 7 day Fairy Tale Package with an extra Basic Plan day added at the beginning of our stay for a total of 8 nights. The FTP, of course, gives us UPH for 7 of those days. We've got the WL Woods View and the total price of $2121.29 (FTP @ $1866.39 plus extra day @$254.90). Trip is from 10/24 through 11/1.

Naturally, I can't compare apples to apples, because WL doesn't have AP availability for us at that time (and we already have air booked). However, I can get AKL Savannah view for $1597. (Standard view is $1151 for anyone interested.)

For me, the AP rate can't beat the FTP. I'm wondering if anyone else has been able to do better than the FTP. I think I'm so tired of doing the math I should just stop and be happy!

I think it depends on how many days you are staying and if you plan on using your APs for more than one trip. I don't have the math anymore but my on my most recent stay buying 2 APs and using that rate was much cheaper then the FTP. My problem was I was staying 11 nights. So that was 7 nights FTP then 4 extra nights added on. Adding on the 4 extra nights doubled the cost of the FTP so it was cheaper to use the APs and the AP rates.

If I had been planning on only doing 7 nights and not having a second trip on the APs then yes the FTP packages are the way to go.

I think it all depends on your situation.

The FTP is fantastic if you need tickets for your family and don't need or want the expense of buying AP's. But, if you buy AP's and thus would not need the UPH's, the AP discount is definitely better. Plus if with your AP you are visiting for 8+ days OR visit more than once per year, the AP rates are better.

In our case, the FTP was better, even though we are AP holders.
We're going for 7 nights, but my youngest needs a ticket (since last year she was under 3). The cost of FTP with 1 adult ticket (even though a 3 yo will use the ticket) was cheaper than the cost of room only under AP and buying her a ticket.

In doing the math for us. Apples to Apples, the room would be the same cost, and the ticket is only $24 per day.

Does any of that make sense?

Thanks all. Stephanie, you do make sense (which is a little scary, huh). I've run through the numbers so many times it hurts. I've bought APs in the past, and will probably make within another year, but . . . I'll stick with my AP and quit obsessing.
