There are three of us going to eat dinner at Whispering Canyon cafe. I want my own skillet due to my appetite, and wy wife and sson (12) would like one also, but reality is they want to split it as neither one eats that much.

ill they be allowed to split the "canyon skillet", even at an additional plate charge.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You can't split the skillet. It's all you can eat, so everyone ordering it is charged per person. Everyone doesn't get their own skillet, either. They bring one, which is served "family style" and the amount of food on it depends on how many order it. anyone can request seconds, thirds, ad infinitum if you want them. Everyone who eats the skillet has to pay full price.

It would be the equivelent to asking to share at a buffet - for al you care to eat it is unlimited PER PERSON

Unless of course it is a child uner 3, then you can share :)

It never hurts to ask!

Thanks!

You can ask, but why when you already know the answer.

Any "all you care to eat" charges per person.

This is directly from the WDW site.

CANYON SKILLET
ALL-YOU-CARE-TO-ENJOY
Smoked Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Oven-roasted Chicken, Beef Brisket,
Mashed Potatoes, Cowboy Beans, and Corn on the Cob
Mixed Greens Salad with Apple Vinaigrette, Coleslaw,
and Fresh-baked Cornbread 26.99 per Person

Whispering Canyon offers both the All you can eat skillet and they offer menu items. You can certainly order the AYCE skillet for yourself and your family can order off the menu the meals they want. You family could even order a regular menu meal to share and there would be no problem there (you just can't share a "buffet" = skillet) There are a few places that do this and is great for those who want the AYCE and those family members who do not. All 3 of whispering canyons meals are set up this way. At breakfast a few in our party will get the skillet and us others will just order a normal size meal. This works perfectly for us. Captian's Grill at the YC also does a breakfast buffet, but also lets you order from the menu. This too is a perfect combination for us as we are one who eats alot and one who does not.

Because you never know. They may have a "extra plate" charge or something on that order. If we "assume" everything is as it seems, then you never know, that's why I always ask.

Ever hear of the Thumper Rule? (If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.)

Not everyone on this board is a Disney expert or knows where to quickly find answers to questions. WDW veterans know the answer to the OP question, but Disney is known for rules with exceptions, so "it never hurts to ask."

It's spelled out pretty clearly on the menu that it's a "per person" charge for anyone eating the skillet. Extra plate charge would be full price listed.

It's more cost effective to split a different meal than the skillet if the people eating it have smaller appetites.

If it helps Children under 9 can order off the kids menu so the Skillet for them is a little under 10 dollars. Much Cheaper then the Adult version and they get the same food as you (I am assuming it is just served with yours)!

I wasn't trying to be mean just as clear as possible.

This isn't really a Disney question its a how do buffets or all you can eat meals work question. There is no buffet that I know of where two adults can share a meal.

Yes you can certainly ask but just expect a strange look from the server.

Yes, and by paying for the child's skillet, they can eat off the adult one - they're not restricted to what comes in their little skillet.
