Okay all you Disney experts, I need some input! My mom and I are planning a trip for the fall after our first Disney Cruise!!!!! We are not heavy eaters anyways and feel that after the cruise we will be STUFFED! ;) So we were wondering if anyone knows whether adults are "allowed" to order kids meals? I have heard mixed things.....
TIA!

We have never tried to order kids meals when we are not too hungry, but what we usually do is to order three or four appetizers so that we can share, have a selection of items, and not have a lot to eat when we are not really famished. Hope this helps.

I ordered off of the children's menu at the 50's Prime Time Cafe with no problem at all.

I have done this a couple times--you will get the kids entree but not the drink or dessert, you can also "upsize" the kids entree.

When I've done this I've also tipped the server as if I ordered an adult entree, they worked just as hard to serve the kids meal as they would to serve an adult entree.

My 17 year old DGD is a light eater and ordered off the kids menu the entire week with no questions asked.

I've ordered off of the kids menu with no trouble at all. If you go to a buffet, you will be charged the adult price, but can feel free to eat of the children's buffet.

The only downside I can see (and maybe you wouldn't think of it as one) but from all the children's menus I've seen at WDW the children's menus all have basically the same items on them, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, pb&j, etc. Of course we normally eat at the same places lately (we gotta start trying some new places!) so maybe some of the more "sophisticated" restaurants have more choices on the kid's menu.

Some of the restaurants have a small child's steak or broiled chicken dish etc... that may or may not be listed on the regular child's menu. You can also substitute a salad or baked/mashed potatoes for fries if the restaurant serves it. I know about this, because I refuse to let ds eat a steady diet of grease and starch for 10 -14 days straight!

When I order off the child's menu, it's usually when we go somewhere for lunch, and I just want a hot dog or cheese pizza, and it's not on the adult menu.

Yes I hope to eat off the kids meals in some restaurants on my next trip and hope it wont be a problem and hopefully they will have more options like grilled chicken or something- this is disney im sure they will make us happy:bounce: :Pinkbounc

My mom and I sometimes want a smaller meal, too. At the sit down restaurants, we have ordered one meal and split it between the two of us. The kids meals are often food that I don't particularly want (PB&J, mac and cheese, etc.). I have ordered the kids meal chicken fingers before though at a counter service restaurant. I've never tried it at a sit down restaurant.

I've never had any of the restaurants blink an eye when we've split one meal. I do tip them better, though. At Prime Time Cafe and Beaches and Cream, they will actually bring it out on two places.

Have a wonderful time on your cruise. I know what you mean about being stuffed towards the end of the cruise. The first 5 days I'm in food heaven, but the last 2 days I'm getting a little bit tired of eating such big, rich meals.
