I am travelling with my nearly 70 year old mom, and she is a very small eater. We are not on the DDP. Is it possible for her to order from the kids menu?

Unfortunately, I don't think that they can. I know I've read several reports here where they won't let this occur. However, I'm sure nothing is "set in stone" (if you're not on the dining plan) and you may find some waitstaff that is willing to "look the other way." Maybe you could think about purchasing an appetizer (or two) as a main course. In all likelihood, the price of two appetizers would probably be cheaper than a main course. anyway.

I ordered off the kid's menu all the time. French toast sticks, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, spaghetti, etc. I'm almost 30 so I don't think it would be a problem for your mom to order off of it. Of course, I never did it at any of the fancier "sit down" restaurants, more like the cafeteria at the All-Star Music Resort, or the quicker take-out restaurants, but no one ever said anything about it.

We find the portions big so could you order her a salad or soup and she could get some of your meal too?

I'm also in my 30's and have ordered off the kid's menu, but only at CS resort locations. You can't get Mac n Cheese or PBJ on the adult menu. It seems like Disney puts the comfort foods on the kid's menu. Hey us big kids need comfort food too.popcorn::

I hope an adult can order off the kids menu. I have a stomach disorder, My stomach does not digest my food properly. So I have to eat small portions or share.:confused3

Anyone can order from the child's or senior's menu any time they wish. While these menus are portioned for guests of certain ages there is no restaurant that should refuse a customer ordering from any menu. I'd rather have you come in, order, and be happy than come in and be told you cannot order, or feel coerced into ordering (and paying) more than you wanted.

I have worked in restaurants for years and that has always been the case everywhere I worked.

HTH,

I think the kid's meals are really one of the best values at WDW. You actually get a lot of food! The main entree, plus two sides ( choice of pudding, jello, grapes, carrot sticks, or fries), and a drink (soda, juice, or small bottled water). Most of them are resonably priced too. Now when we go out my boyfriend knows that if there's a kid's meal, I'm probably going to order it...

We did it last weekend at the 50's PTC for lunch. Waiter brought the kids menus out with no problem.

I also second the appetizer plan, it all depends what you feel like eating.
