Can a stomach virus make you feel really "full"?

We had a stomach virus whip thru this house starting Tuesday night...today thought was better, but my boyfriend ate normally (still not as much as normal, but more than the rest of the week) today and is now sitting on the couch feeling really full, bloated, etc...is that normal after a stomach virus? I felt the same way last night, but last night was the first night I started having symptoms, still sick today. He had it Tues-Thurs.

Was it too soon to eat normally? It's been sooo long since we've had the stomach "flu"....:scared1:

My daughter had the "full" feeling for the past two weeks. Had some diarrhea but no vomitting. I'd say stay with bland foods. Hope you all feel better soon.

Has this season been awful or is it just us? My one-year-old daughter was in the ER and then admitted to the hospital because of a stomach bug in both November and just a few weeks ago. Then, she got a fever and now has a cold. I feel like we can't catch a break. The second I get her off the bottle and eating again, something else comes along and she regresses.

I would take it easy with the eating. Both my husband and I had different versions of it and it took a few days before we even wanted to eat normal again. It took my daughter a week before she was back to eating our food again.

Yes, totally normal. I would also take it easy on the food and keep it simple or smaller portions until you start feeling like you are well.

I agree. I was told it can take at least a couple weeks for your digestive system to really get back on track again (meaning you might not have the same appetite you did before, you feel fuller faster, certain foods bother you or make you feel sick..etc) and to keep an eye on what you eat and how much until you are "normal" again.

Yes. It's your body's way of telling you to take it very easy on the eating while it heals. I hope everyone will be back to normal soon, this has been a really rough stomach bug season!

Yes, a stomach bug can leave you with a mild form of gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining). Until that heals, you can get the feeling of fullness after eating. I sometimes get it when my reflux is acting up.

If you really felt like it, you could take some Gaviscon between meals to help heal the stomach but it's not necessary.
