Can a specific room number be requested at check in?

I know when you make reservations you only make generic requests like non-smoking, top floor/bottom floor, pool view, woods view, etc. I was just wondering if when you arrive at check in, can you request a specific room number if available. If so, I'm curious to hear from you guys on what kind of luck you've had in requesting a specific room number at check in.

I will be at BCV 9/1 thru 9/4 (1 Bedroom) and then again at BCV 10/27 thru 11/4 (Studio). So if anyone has any room numbers they'd like to recommend, please let me know what they are and why you recommend them.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and input!!!

While you can certainly ask for a specific room, its probably an exercise in frustration. In order for that particular room to even be available when you check-in, the party in it before you would have to have checked out that day, the room no be pre-assigned to somebody else, and that it had already been cleaned.

Once youv'e had your requests satisfied (smoking/non-smoking, near/away from elevator, upper/lower floor, etc) there really isn't any difference between the rooms.

It doesn't hurt to ask politely at check-in. Once, I had a room assigned to me that I knew wasn't in a very appealing area (it wasn't the type of view I'd requested either). So I asked the CM nicely, "Last time I had #305, and I loved the view from there. Do you have anything like that?" Surprisingly, "Oh- it so happens we have that room available if you'd like it." I was so happy and thankful! But I didn't expect it.

I've heard of people making lists of room numbers that they'd like, and then asking at check-in if any of those are available. I haven't tried it, though.

You can request through MS just call and add a room request. A good studio room is 561 and 563 BCV over looks the woods and Epcot.:thumbsup2

I suppose you can request a specific room, but don't be disappointed if someone is already in it when you arrive, and you get a different one. Can you imagine what a nightmare it would be if everyone requested specific rooms?

When I cheked in at OKW once, the CM handed me a map and showed me several different rooms that were available right then, and I was able to choose from those, so that was a nice help.

When I stayed at SSR, I made a very specific request (though it was for a medical issue) and that request was honored to perfection.

IMO, there are no *bad* rooms at DVC--after all, look where you'll be???

I guess the Gods smile on me occasionally.

During our first visit to BWV in 2000 (back in the days when boardwalk view was a request, not a guarantee), we ended up in 4001, which along with 5001 on the floor above have the best view of Illuminations of just about any villa in the resort.

Fast forward to last year - we're returning to Boardwalk, with a preferred boardwalk view ressie, only requests being upper floor, non smoking and with a bathtub (the latter almost always insures you won't end up in a "handicapped accessible" villa, which because of their design can be annoying to those who aren't handicapped; in order for the "HA" villas to have a large, wheelchair capable shower, their design removes the tub).

We check in at around 7am, and as expected, no, the villa isn't ready.

No problem, as planned we go off to Epcot for the day. Call the resort several times during the afternoon, villa doesn't become available until about 3:45. When I ask the CM for the number, I cheer at the answer.

My wife asks me what is going on, and I simply answer "we got 4001 again!"
