Can a military Salute ticket be upgraded to a regular pass?

I know years ago you could convert these to a regular Magic Your Way ticket so that you could add on days. Does anyone know if this is still an option? Thanks

Any "upgrade" would be accomplished by paying the difference between the cost of the military ticket and the full cost of the ticket to which you want to upgrade.

So, there would be no savings involved over just buying the full price ticket from the beginning.

Well the reason I am asking is because our daughter and her husband are going on our trip but they are going to get the 5 day military ticket and do 2 non park days but if they decided to add on a day or two I wanted to know if they could pay the difference. I wasn't sure if that was even allowed anymore.

As Robo said, they can, but it would be very expensive to do so. They could add the plus option and visit the water parks on their off days. That option would only be about $50.

our daughter and her husband are going to get the 5 day military ticket... but if they decided to add on a day or two I wanted to know if they could pay the difference.
The difference in "adding a day" would be having to pay the full cost of buying a new full-price 6 day ticket... with only a small cost (the value of the 5-day military ticket) subtracted from that full amount.

So:
$500.00 (6-Day Standard Hopper, "Typical date")
-257.00 (5-Day Military Hopper, "Any date")
$243.00 (Typical cost to "add a day" to the Military Hopper)

Therefore, it would be much cheaper to simply buy a one-day ticket, outright.

It's early for me and I haven't finished my coffee, but this confuses me.

You're buying a 5 day pass for them. They are doing two non-park days (which I am assuming they are either going to Universal, hanging out at the pool, etc). That means that they are using only 3 park entries on their 5 park entry ticket. For what reason would they be needing to add on more park days if they have two of them unused.

The OP, @edk35, did not say that the TRIP was only going to be 5 days, total.

The way I read it is that the couple using the Military ticket where using (at the least) 5 days at WDW parks... with the possibility of 6 days.

Yes, I couldn't quite grasp the actual plan in his second post.

no- military tickets cannot be added to or upgraded - they are a setnpeice. if they wanted to add fays rheybwould hve to purchase a regular ticket.

I know this because we tried the year they only had a 4 day option and we decided to do a 5th day and had to pay for a single day.

Sorry I didn't explain that good LOL. Our trip is actually 8 nights. They are going to use the 5 day ticket and also do 2 non Disney park days. If for whatever reason they decided to not do the pool or whatever else on the other 2 days.... we were wondering if they could upgrade to a 6 or 7 day ticket. So now our other option is to get them two 4 day Salute tickets to cover their entire 8 night trip. That way if they want to go to a park for part of a day or two they can.

Yes....thanks.

Depending on when they are going, if there is a party night many of those have military discounts and you can usually enter the park from 4pm. We did a 4 day military hopper plus a MNSSHP for only 50-ish more per person and that got us another 8 hours at MK

If you can plan it so you're not hopping on those possible extra days, a regular Disney 2-day ticket will be right at the same prices as the 4-night Salute ticket. If they decide they really don't want to go to the parks, then you save the money. If they do want to go, but only go for one of those days, you save money. If they decide to go both, then you don't lose any money.

No. The only upgrades that can be done to a Military Promotional ticket (previously called Salute tickets) are...

- Add one day to a 4-day ticket, for $17.04 (not applicable here, since they already have 5 day tickets)

- Add the Plus option, for $53.25, which would give them 5 entries to the water parks or mini-golf. If they like water parks, this is a great option.

- Upgrade to an annual pass, for which they would pay the difference between the cost of the military ticket and the cost of the pass. So no savings over buying the pass from the start.
