Can a Disney lover love Universal?

We are DVC members but a trip to Orlando is never complete without spending a few days at Universal. We usually stay at the RPR which is FABULOUS!!!!! It's truly deluxe. This trip(November), we're trying the Portofino.
My 13 yo daughter would be happy w/out even going to WDW. I'm spoiled by the FOTL.

I love both parks... I was amazed with Universal studios & IOA, the theming and decors are great, and like said, the rides are soooo wonderful... Men in black is like Buzz lightyear, but I'm sorry to say, but much better... The Spiderman ride is the best 3D motion ride that I've tried and I can go on and on about the parks, we only took a 2 days pass on last trip and kept the rest of the 12 days at Disney, but on our next trip, we will do US & IOA again for sure, too much fun...

I love both WDW and Universal Orlando. I've gone to Disney all my life, it will always be special to me.
And now that I have a pass to Universal I'll be going quite a bit.

I don't have a pass to Disney unfortunately, I can only afford one theme park (or rather, a group of parks) at a time for now :guilty:

Universal Orlando and IOA are much better than Universal Hollywood. There are a lot more rides and it is much better laid out.

I totally agree. We love WDW and the Universal parks in Florida. But the one time we went to USH we were less than thrilled. We spent less than 1/2 day there. There were things we really liked, but overall it does not come close to comparing to USO.

Of course a Disney Lover can love Universal! I don't see why not. I had been to Disney World 4 times before going to Universal, and now I don't want to go back to Disney! Can't even imagine waiting in a 2 hour line for the popular rides, when with FOTL it's only 5 minutes! :hyper: I'm a Universal convert and proud of it. If you liked the Poly, you'll LOVE RPR, that's where we stayed. Just make sure you try the best of the best rides and shows, and you won't regret going! :)

Yes you can enjoy and love both! I used to be dead set against US/IOA because I just love everything Disney. Then my DD won a trip to US/IOA with a stay at Portofino and we fell in love with US/IOA as well.
My DD and I both love thrill rides which is one of the reasons we love US/IOA. We love staying onsite at HRH now that she is a teen and the FOTL is amazing. It doesn't matter when you go, you have little or no wait! We love HHN and Mardi Gras.
We still love WDW and go there in May before Labor Day and always Thanksgiving/ Christmas holidays. There is no where that can rival WDW during the holidays. The parks, the hotels, DTD, you will be so in the spirit of celebrating, it isn't even real.
We don't go to WDW at Halloween anymore. We just love HHN. We don't go to US/IOA during Thanksgiving/Christmas. It just doesn't do it for us like WDW does.
Any other time, we love both and really do either without hesitation or sadness.
This works for us:goodvibes

I love them both! They both have different things to offer. Don't have to feel like you are unfaithful LOL

It didn't look to me like the Portofino had a slide or a beach. Is that correct?

water slide was a bait of a snooze, until we tried laying down ala a speed slide.:thumbsup2

really a nicely themed pool!

the villa pool is stunning (and quiet:thumbsup2 )

I'm a big Disney fan and I enjoy visiting UO/IOA. The Disney and Universal parks "feel" different, so it's not as if you are having a repetitive vacation experience. Universal offers some great attractions, hotels, restaurants, and perks. Give it a try!
