My secretary is trying to plan a DCL trip but has a question about her kids in the clubs. She has a 7 year old who will be about 7 months from turning 8 and her daughter is 8 (will be nine two months later). The two are inseparable. Will they be able to be in the club together? Her daughter is very big for her age so moving her down may not be an option. Thanks for the input!

When they arrive onboard and go to register the kids they can ask. If there is room to have another child in the older group they will usually let you on a trial basis. Basically stating that if they fit in they can stay but if they don't they would need to go back to their own group. They usually are pretty good about that, but it depends on how full the ship is and how many kids they all ready have booked for that age group.

Generally the child needs to be within a month of turning that age to be allowed in a different club. The 3-7s are in the club & the 8-12s are in the lab. They would probably allow a trial of the 8 year old moving down, but she might be bored with the activities. The 5-7s do spend alot of time in the lab area though, so even though they may not be doing the same activity they would be in the same setting.

My boys are in pretty much the same situation. My youngest will be 8 in Sept, we're cruising in May. My oldest was just 9. They are best friends and completely inseparable. I have already prepared my little guy, told him he probably won't be in the same club with his brother but he is not happy about it.

I will ask when signing them in if it's possible to put him with his brother. He is big for his age, they're practically the same size. And he is always hanging out with his brother and other 9 yr olds. He is also advanced in his class. I know he won't want to be in the same group with 5 yr olds.

So..we'll see. I have my fingers crossed that they will be together, if not I imagine my relaxing vacation with 'alone' time isn't going to be exactly what I had planned. But we'll make the best of it.

Cruised on 2/29 with my sister's family. They allowed her 9yr old to be in the older group w/my 10yr on a "Trial basis" She just turned 9 so she didn't fall within a month being 10 or anything. She did fine and they were very nice about allowing the cousins to be together.

we cruised in Feb and had an 8 yr old and 7 yr- 8 month. The almost 7 yr old could have moved up to the older group. But we decided to move the 8 yr old down with the other kids - sisiters, the boys pretty much played computers as much as they could and didn't notice they were older.

Our cruise was full and had 1100 kids between 2-12!!!!

I have a similar problem. My daughter will be days from 12 on our cruise but is incredibly mature for her age (she also looks about 16 - developed and all that - heaven help me) and she has NO desire to hang out in the lab, she wants to go into the teen group! I can't let her do that obviously, but I do feel bad for her. She is definately what they call here a "tween" and she's feeling very left out, poor thing! Age really is but a number. Good luck, I hope the siblings can be together on your cruise!
