We have the dining plan but will pay OOP for one or two childrens meals foe my 10 year old, but I noticed that on allears.net that it says under the childrens meal menu that it is for children 3-9. If you have a 10 year old, can they order off of the kids menu or not order a meal at all? (if it seems like a lot of food, we will usually order 2 kids meals for our 3 kids and have them split). Does Disney allow kids who are 10 order from the kids menu and can they not order at all and share a meal? Thanks!

Yes, they usually allow it except at buffets or family-style or all-you-can-eat meals such as the skillet at WCC.

I sure hope my DD10 can order off the kids menu this year or we're in big trouble because she is a VERY picky eater. When I made my ADR's this morning I asked the CM this very question (we are paying OOP) and she said, "probably, you'll have to discuss it with the managers at each restaurant." :scared1: Are you kidding me? I'm not too worried about her answer, I'm sure they'll allow it. This has to be a common problem at Disney.

Mine eats off the kids menu. He's over 5ft tall and no restaurant has ever carded him. :lmao:

That's good to know! Sad thing is my DD10 is very petite and people always think she's about 8 so I KNOW I could cheat the system and consider her as 9 yet and save HUNDREDS of dollars on our trip. But darn it, my parents raised me too good and I'm too honest to do that.

Don't worry about it at all. Even my BIL has ordered off the kids menu at Disney  he's very picky!

We did the DDP in December when DS was 10. We paid OOP for all of his kid's meals, and he used his credits at the buffets & family served meals. The rest of his "adult" credits we used for an extra TS meal for the rest of us :goodvibes

This is great news as it will be our first trip with a child being classed as an adult at 10. It doesn't bother me to pay adult prices for buffets etc. but I can't imagine him wanting to eat any adults entree unless it is steak. It will make a difference to the ADRs we choose

Thanks for the replies....has anyone has experience with the 3 kids sharing 2 meals?

I don't think most of the TS kids meals offer very much food. But if your kids don't eat very much that would probably be okay. That being said I think the adult meals are too much food so I typically share mine with the kids.

For example at Kona last year. DS got an appetizer which was a small lettuce salad, a hotdog with no sides, and an ice cream. To me this isn't a great meal considering the wonderful adult options. I did try to schedule so places that look like they have better Kids options this year.
