She will actually be 1 week shy of a year old when we go.
I've been to blizzard beach before. I know I could hop off the tube and hold her to avoid any cold water splashing on her from the cave for the "sneezing house". Are there any cold water surprises at the lazy river at TL?::MinnieMo

Nope, no cold water surprises that go all the way across the river (like at BB). Only a couple that are on one side or another. And a great mist in one section that feels awesome on a hot day! Also, at TL, the kids inner tubes don't have a hole in them, they're more like a float shaped like a donut! We took my DS when he was 5 months old and I swam along pushing him rather than floating myself and he fell asleep! My mom has a great picture from the bridge of him sleeping in the tube!

TL also has a tunnel with cold water dripping down just like BB.

As someone who spends a lot of time floating in the lazy river, I've seen a lot of parents let very young children float with them. Sometimes they give the child its own inner tube and sometimes the child rides with the parent.

Although BB and TL both have a lot of (very vigilant) lifeguards, I would think long and hard about taking a one year old into the lazy river. I've seen my share of little ones fall in the water and although no one has ever been hurt, it's a pretty scary moment. There are also places in the river where there are some fairly strong currents generated by underwater jets. A child that landed in the water in those spots could easily be "blown" quite a ways away from its parents arms.

Then there are the folks who get a little rowdy in the water...they don't always watch what they are doing.

Maybe I'm just hyper cautious, but I think if I had a child that young, I'd be inclined to stick to the Tike's Peak area.

Do they have life vests available for infants? Can you bring your own?

They have life jackets available. At TL they are at locker rental. I would feel sure they would have extra-small ones. We got a life jacket for our 4 year old and she wore it except at lunch and was quite comfortable. She really enjoyed the lazy river--rode on a raft with a bottom--and never even came close to falling off. Sometimes I would walk with her and sometimes I rode holding on to her raft.

Have fun!

I would think that one of those swimsuits with all of the "floaties" built in would be better for a child so small. Ther would virtually no chance of the flotation device becoming detatched from the child. A life vest could come off.
