I was just looking at some of the menus, and noticed that the children's menus say that they are for kids 9 and under. My DD will turn 11 just before out trip, but she is a tiny little thing, and can't eat very much. It would be a tremedous waste of food and money to have her order an adult entree. Does anyone know if Disney restaurants are strict about enforcing the age limit on the children's menus?

We've never had a problem with my DDs ordering off the kids menu - in fact, once my 16 yr old wasn't very hungry and just order the kids chicken fingers. No problems at all. My 10 yr old ordered off the kids menu on our trip in Dec and had no problems. (Of course, if you eat at a buffet, you'd have to pay the adult fare)

Enjoy your trip!!!

I am a 30 something a have ordered from the childrens menu. We are not very big eaters, or maybe we are big eaters but not al at one sitting..LOL!
MY DS9 weighs 74 lbs and oftens order off the adult menu but my DD 11 and I often order off the kids menu w/o any hassle from the CM's.

HTH!

Thanks for all your answers! I'm glad to know DD will be able to order portions appropriate for her appetite.

Worst case scenario that I've read about here is that they'll charge an adult price for an older person ordering a child meal. I don't think they'll ever refuse you out-right.

Like the previous posters said, you shouldn't have a problem at all. When we were on the dining plan and our 18 year old daughter ordered off the kids' menu, they used her adult dining plan credit. Have a great trip and eat lots of great food, Lisa

They are strict about enforcing the age limits with the buffets. In that case, you have to pay the adult price, at the character buffets I don't mind really because I feel you are paying for the entertainment as much of the food and my kids definitely get their money's (or rather my money's worth ;) ) at those places. At regular restaurants with menu's I have never had any trouble ordering off the kids menus for my kids (10 and 12). If you are purchasing the Disney Dining Plan, you do need to pay the adult price for your 11 year old but they are happy to give you kids meals (sometimes double portions) or tweak the adult entrees to her liking. But if you are paying out of pocket, you should be just fine to order the kids meal and be charged the kids price.
