Well, I was (I guess I still am) interested in adding on at GCV, but as I am so new on timeshares, just made my first bought on BLT a few months ago, so I am a little affraid about the annual payments.

That is why I am asking how is GCV, compared to BLT about annual payments. I am affraid of having a BIG bill yearly.......:scared1::scared1::scared1:

If I, (f.e.) buy 100 pts at GCV what are the current point cost?, what the incentives? and what the annual dues?

Thanks

GCV costs are very similar to BLT.

The cost of 100 points is $112 and you will receive $5/pt gift card. This cannot be used toward the down payment any longer but you could apply it to the balance due. Since you are a current member you could either get a 3 day cruise for select dates or I think you could still chose to get 100 matching Dev. Pts that could be used at SSR or DLR hotels by Oct 3, 2009.

These incentives are scheduled to end as of April 1st and will probably be replaced by something new that has yet to be announced.

Annual dues for 2009 are $3.82 so just a little higher than BLT.

Hi, everyone.

I've not been that active on the DIS boards in the last six months or so. This is my first post in a while.

Anyway, I just spoke to my guide about GCV. I don't really need any more points. However, I wanted to purchase points at GCV for two reasons:

1. It is absolutely my favorite resort in the whole world, Disney or otherwise. (I do like it even better than my beloved Wilderness Lodge, though Wilderness Lodge is my favorite WDW resort, and I remain delighted to own there.) I just had to own a tiny piece of GCV. Just to digress a second, my first visit to the Grand Californian, which was shortly after it opened, changed my life. I didn't stay there during that visit, but I ate there and spent a lot of time looking around. That was my first large-scale exposure to Mission and Arts and Crafts architecture and design, and it sparked a passion that hasn't ended yet. My whole house is decorated in that style to the extent that the space available, the layout, and my budget allow. So GCV is a big deal to me.

2. GVC is the only West Coast DVC resort, and it's not super big. As a result, I'm guessing that it's going to be fairly difficult for non-owners to book there at seven months. I could be wrong, but that conclusion seems reasonable to me. So I wanted to have some points there just so that I could book at 11 months and would be much more likely to get the room I want when I want it.

So I got 50 points. I don't get to California as often as I do Florida, so I figured I'll basically be getting out there every three years, and I'll have 150 points to spend on those stays.

I think it will work out nicely.

By the way, I hope they still give out lithographs when one buys points. Right now, I've got two Wilderness Lodge lithos - the one I got when I became a member and a different one that I purchased at the lodge - framed and hanging in the bedroom. If I get a GCV litho, I'll substitute that for my second Wilderness Lodge litho. It will be so cool to have images of my two favorite places on my wall.

My guide couldn't give me any details, but he suggested that I call him back on Wednesday (April 1) rather than him putting through my 50-point GCV order today. He felt that the new incentive as of April 1 would be better for me. (I don't know what it is, so I don't know if what will be better for me would be better than anyone else. But we'll know in two days.)

But, what is the current incentive? and what could be the future incentive?
