the fact is that I have never been healthier or more active and that in and of itself is a huge accomplishment for me

Hi Cam!
Your statement above is exactly why i keep coming back to the WISH! We are not in this alone though we all face different challenges in all of our lives. I am soo over the moon happy for you that you can say that!!
I sometimes, in my sappy moods hehe!, sit back and look at how diverse of a group we really are on here yet how we all rally behind each other sharing support and encouragement, and it is not all weight related! It amazes me and makes me think that if we could just get the rest of the world to subscribe to a few WISH threads than we might have a more peaceful world! (How sappy is that???!!! hahaha! I am overtired, don't hold it against me!)

Hearing about your 6am walking buddy and Don's weight lifting really inspires me to pick up the pace with my exercise!!!

I hope that you have a most excellent rest of the day and I will chat with you soon!!

OOh, almost forgot to tell you, sadly Wicked has been bumped to the "Read me next" pile on my bookshelf because of Harry Potter!!! But I will get to it soon! hehe! ;)

Bye!
Mike :goodvibes

AWESOME! Can't wait to hear about what you have added to your routine. I am still thinking that the Garmin is running a very close 2nd to my ipod for "very best toy ever in my whole life"

Ohhhh, well, I guess that is an okay reason. I am also buried in the world of muggles & wizards. I could not keep my eyes open to read last night and was so disappointed to have to put the book down when I was only on something like page 220! I can't wait to get home to read it. Maybe I will take it to the Y and ride the recumbent bike and read! That's the only way I can figure to get exercise and read at the same time! :confused3 :teeth:

So, how are you doing on staying awake? I think my body is having a hard time getting used to getting up at 5:30 or 5:40. I am really dragging and I have a tired headache. :headache: You have my sympathy!

So, what's for dinner? All that talk about onions last night made me cook way too many, mix them in too little refried beans, and end up with flavored onions, instead of flavored re-fried beans! ;) Yummy, though!

I wish I was that far in the potter life. I am on chapter 2. I put the book under the couch because I kept trying to pick it up and read it and the kids would be fighting or wanting a snack. Then I get sucked into the disboards. You sound like you are doing great. I am only wishing for great things for you. Hugs Kardiebelle

Hi Cam,

I want to thank you for your post. Your sentiment really helped me remember that I am not in this for the number on he scale.

As for Harry Potter, I finished the bok. I promise not to spoil it. The more I think about it, the more I like this one. Keep reading.

take care,
Beth

Beth & Kardibelle --Thank you so much for visiting! What a nice way to start my day!

Well, last night was one of those hungry nights. Now, I can barely remember what I had for dinner. Geez, actually, at this moment, I CAN'T remember what I had for dinner. Geez, nearly 42 and the memory is shot!

Well, my walking partner didn't show up, and I was really tempted to sit in my nice air conditioned car or on a park bench and read HP, but forced myself to walk. Did a "leisurely" 1.3 miles in 22:39 (17:39 pace) and then did another .4 in 5:25 (13:32). The last "leg" was my fastest pace ever. I jogged when I could and noticed my distances are getting longer. Nothing too impressive, mind you, like the distance between a few telephone poles or something like that, but I figure the more frequently I can do that with less recovery time between my "spurts" the better off I will be.

Food and mood?
Mood: feeling energized with the good pace. My back is a bit less painful today, and I am proud to have wogged even when my friend couldn't join me. Looking forward to this Saturday's 5K and am kind of glad my friend won't be doing it with me this time, so that I can try some of this jogging once in a while (she can't because of her knees). If I could get to below 50:00, I will be thrilled.

Food:
B: 2 lite EMs (2); egg beaters (1); 1/2 ham steak (2); 1 sl ff cheese (.5). Very filling breakfast for 5.5 points (less than an egg mcmuffin, and I had TWO sandwiches). Should definitely hold me until a late lunch. Drinking lots of water and the coffee is on.

L: lettuce & fajita chicken (maybe in a tortilla); tomatoes, cucumbers. :)

Hi Cam!! You'll do great in your 5K...good luck and I can't wait to see you post after your race! I'll be cheering you on in spirit!

Hi, Cam! Sounds like you are still doing great! I had a hungry day yesterday too. I just hope you did better than I did!

hey cam! what's up? :)

hope your day is off to a SUPER start...mine is slow going...it was really hard to get out of bed this morning, BUT only 1.5 work days left for me this week as I'm off tomorrow afternoon for another interview :)

i'm tired, but making it... a little sore too...three miles was kinda tough last night, but I DID IT! :teeth:

here's hoping today is the best weight loss day for you yet!

hugs!

Jen :fish: ;)

Hi Cam!!
Big congrats on your fastest pace ever!!! That is awesome!
Staying awake yesterday was a HUGE challenge but a good one as we finished the job search I was chairing here and we are offering today to the candidate I like the most! hehe :goodvibes
I am so excited to hear about the results of the 5K saturday! remember we'll be there with ya and if it gets tough just keep chanting, "I WISH I can!" :goodvibes

Have a happy & healthy day!
Mike

I'm here wishing you great luck on the 5k. I wish I was by your side doing it also. My aids walk and walk for diabetes are both coming up soon enough. Have a great day today. hugs kardiebelle

GOOD LUCK ON THE 5K!!! Don't forget - you are just competing against yourself. It doesn't matter what the others around you are doing and you have your specific time goal. YOU CAN DO IT! You have trained hard and you are ready!

Thank you so much, Vee! I feel very compelled to do a good job in this 5K, to show my appreciation for the support of my WISH buddies.

Not all that much better. I had to use 2 of my APs, though I still had at least another 2, and I didn't touch my flexpoints. If I hadn't removed myself to the second floor (with my HP book -- good company ;) ), I'd have been in big trouble.

Oh, yeah, now I remember what I ate. It was absolutely delicious and very, very filling: 4 oz (uncooked) whole wheat fettucine, mixed with 1/2 can diced tomatoes w/peppers & onions, with red pepper flakes (my sorry attempt to replicate last week's Olive Garden arrabiata sauce), with 1/4 c. fat free ricotta. I was going to make garlic bread on a lite english muffin, but was so full from the pasta I am glad I didn't. Of course, after dinner, I munched on chips, etc. until I stopped myself!

Dessert was a 2 pt. weight watchers fudge sundae cup with cut up cherries (tasted like chocolate covered cherries -- YUMMMMMMM!!!!)

Jen -- congrats on the 3 miles! Bet you never thought 2 months ago that you'd be walking 3 miles after a full work day, right? Keep it up! You are inspiring me!

Mike -- so glad you will get to work with a new co-worker that you liked in the interview process. That is great!

kardiebelle -- wish you lived nearby. We'd do these 5Ks for fun together and inspire each other. We'll just have to be there in spirit for each other. I really appreciate your support!

calena -- Thank you. As much as I tell myself I am only competing against myself, I still get really wrung out when I see the moms with jogging strollers going past me! :earseek: Here I am, feeling like I am going to :faint: , and there they are, just strolling along faster than I can jog!!! What's with that? :confused3 Of course, if you saw how short my legs are, you'd understand!

Thanks, everyone!!!! :cool1: :jumping1:  :flower3:

Hi Cam!!

oooohh! That pasta dish sounds yummy!!! mmmm hehe
I said I was gonna make fajitas tonight for dinner but now pasta sounds like a good idea... What to do! What to do! heheh!

Hope that you have a great night! :goodvibes
Mike

Good luck. You can do it. I am sending my thoughts and prayers for you. The last half is always the hardest. Push, push, push, Go fast and of course treat yourself afterwards. You will do great I am waiting for the results. Smiles and good luck. Remember to breathe in your nose out your mouth. kardiebelle

Hoping to get out of work early enough to take the kids to a movie or go on a date with Howard. Would love to see "March of the Penguins" but not sure anyone besides me is up for that. I think the kids want to see "Charlie", but besides that there isn't much out there of interest.

Interesting weekend planned:
tonight: play by ear

SATURDAY: 5K, then to running store for new sneakers! YIPPEE!!! :jumping1: I LOVE getting running shoes. Who'd have thunk!?!?!?! :cool1: Then home to make something for dessert and put together a fruit salad. Then off to meet friends for mini golf, dinner & movies and board games

SUNDAY: Drive almost 4 hours in each direction to visit Andy's camp. He leaves in 2 weeks but will take the bus, and we really want to see what the camp is like. Just a short "Sunday drive" ;)

The scale showed some movement this morning, but since my WI day is Tuesday, I am hoping it doesnt' change its mind between now and then.

Was taking a look at my training calendar for July. I have walked (and jogged a tiny bit) almost 38 miles this month -- 16 of them were this week. I think if I can keep up my morning walks, it should kick my weight loss into high gear. Of course, I am hoping to sweat off a pound or two tomorrow!

Trying to decide on what to have for dinner tonight. Pizza completely buried in veggies sounds sooo good. Or, I can do a couple of english muffins topped with a mushroom & onion w/A-1 mixture and save points for popcorn at the movies. Hmmm . . . tough decisions.

I am definitely avoiding the chicken tenders, however.

Hoping all my WISH friends have a happy weekend.

Hi Cam,

Sounds like you have a great weekend planned. I love the mushroom-onion-A1-english muffin combo, sounds yummy to me!

I hope that you have a blast at the 5K tomorrow and I will be thinking about you! Maybe I will take a nice walk outside tomorrow too! (Not nearly as far but still! hehe)

Have a happy & healthy weekend!
Mike :goodvibes

Hi Cam, hope you have a good weekend. 5K sounds fun, I'd like to try one of those soon. Hope your back gets to feeling better, that doesn't sound fun at all.
:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :cool1:

Just popping in real quick to report on the 5K. Did 49:47, which gets me my below-50:00 objective. 15:51 pace on the official time/distance.

Thrilled but trying not to think of how much harder I should have worked. Something to shoot for next time. Interestingly, my Garmin said it was 3.2, which would have given me a 15:33 pace. Solidly below the 16:00 required pace, but how the heck am I going to do that for another 10 miles? :) It will come with training, I am sure.

Don -- There were a lot of people walking this 5K at a nice, leisurely pace. I think everyone should try it sometime. It is really satisfying to finish one.

Did well on cheat-free yesterday, eating popcorn at the movies but only a low fat hot dog on a lite english muffin for dinner when we got home. Saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Interestingly, it didn't create any candy cravings.

Ate a soft pretzel and a nectarine this morning after the race. Saving points for dinner and dessert with friends. Bought cut up fruit and everyone else can do ice cream sandwiches and caramel apple crisp with ice cream. Fortunately, that holds no appeal for me. :)

Way to go on the 5K Cam!!!!!!!! You must be very proud of yourself - I'm proud of you!!!!!

And good job on the movies and the choices you ate the last couple of days. You're doing so well!!!!

Keep on
Chris
