Couldn't say it any better than Tracy did! You are AWESOME!!!!

WOW Cam. I am sitting here at work, hoping no one walks in my office to see my red face and tears! I'm sorry that it was difficult for you toward the end, but you made it!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!:cheer2: Great job on persevering and finishing!!! You are great example!

WISHing you the best!!!
Stacie

Thank you so much, Julie & Tracy & Stacie! Stacie -- congratulations on your race! :woohoo: Can you believe it has already been a week since you did that? ;) I hope you have been showing off your medal to friends and family and strangers, alike! :thumbsup2

I am just starting to think about what this year's performance means for next year. I think even now I am surprised at how difficult this was for me, mentally. I thought my lousy time last year was attributable to my fall and sort of limping along to the end. I really expected to do so much better this year. However, I do know I wasn't trained well enough. My longest training run was 20 miles on 12/22 in Hilton Head and it was cold that day. So, I hadn't put in enough miles, I hadn't done enough cross-training, and I hadn't prepared to cope with the heat & humidity. It shouldn't surprise me that I barely finished.

This year I am training to run the half next January. I am going to work so hard on a very disciplined training plan and cross-training plan. And I am sure that if I take off another 30 pounds, it will be that much easier.

Thank you again, everyone for your wonderful support! :grouphug:

I know...1 week since! My sister is coming in this weekend (Larry's girl) and I'll be showing off my medal to her--even though it is only a rubber one! ha!

I am considering the half next year. I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm toying w/ the 15K in May for the Minnie and I know if I can complete that, I can add another 4 miles by January right? I'll be posting in my journal on Monday my decision. I didn't make it over to the POP meet, but hopefully next year if you do the half, and me too, I can meet you then!

Congrats again on completing the marathon! It's a great accomplishment!

Hope you have a great weekend!
Stacie

Stacie -- I have a lot of faith in you. If you commit to the Minnie 15k, you WILL train for it and you WILL complete it and then you will only have to "train up" from the terrific base you'll have from the Minnie. PLUS the Minnie required pace is 15 minute miles and the 1/2 marathon is 16 minute miles, so you will be well on your way to being able to do distance at a good pace with a great cushion. :thumbsup2

Hey Cam,

I just wanted to add my very late CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your post had me sobbing. You expressed the emotions so clearly, I felt like I was there with you.

You have a lot to be proud of woman. I am so glad your daughter was there to witness this event demonstrating what an amazing woman you are.

Take care,
Beth

Thank you so much, Beth! I really thought of all my WISH journal buddies so much during those 7 hours and couldn't bear the thought of coming back and telling you all I'd quit. But I was already scripting in my mind to tell you all how horrible the heat and humidity were and how I just couldn't take another step. I am so glad that God didn't give up on me when I'd given up on myself. And I am so glad to know that you would have all loved me anyway and consoled me if I had made it to the start, but not the finish.

My WISH Journal buddies are the BEST!!! :grouphug:

CAM!!!! :goodvibes :grouphug: I'm sooooo proud of you girl! You are such a fighter. Relentless! The heat and humidity really took a toll!

I have to say meeting Howard out on the course around miles 22-23 was really refreshing. He's a great guy (as you know!).

Seeing you at Pop totally brightened my day on Friday. AND seeing you during the Half was such a huge boost. You guys were cheering for us like crazy :cheer2: ....so much so that I choked up after passing you. It was very emotional. The WiSH team was a life-saver out on and along the course BOTH days.

I know what a struggle it was out there, but you have to feel so proud of yourself despite the difficulties. Your report was very inspiring, thank you so much for sharing it with us!!!

Thank you, Amy! Howard specifically made a point to tell me that he'd run with you for a few minutes and just how sweet and strong you are. I am jealous that he got to spend time with you! ;) Thank you again for all of your support!

Okay, everyone, here we go -- PROJECT WEDDING GOWN!

I am determined to get very disciplined with my eating and try to take off 15 pounds from my weight the morning after returning from WDW. WOW!! I guess Chef Mickey's, Pop Century, a lasagna dinner, LeCellier, Crystal Palace, a smoked turkey leg, leftover lasagna, Electric Umbrella, Earl of Sandwich (only yogurt parfait there), Olive Garden, Pinocchio's, etc. etc. really did all leave their mark(s) on me. LOL!!!

I am hoping my friend will come for the weekend in early March to go wedding gown shopping. I have 6 or 7 weeks to take off all the WDW weight and several more pounds beyond that. I'd really like to be down 14.6 by then. UGH!! Sounds overly ambitious. But hey! It's better to have the goal and to push forward (relentless, forward motion!!!) than to resign myself to not being able to do it.

Here goes!
Starting weight looks like 1?4.5 as of 1/17/08 (I'm way too shy and embarrassed to share that 2nd digit, but it helps me remember where I am starting)

Food today:
B: 1 cup fat free plain yogurt w/ half cup frozen berries; coffee w/skim milk
L: lean cuisine peanut chicken over 2 cups broccoli; green salad w/fat free raspberry vinegarette dressing
S: popcorn
D: LC panini; "smuggled" popcorn at movies

We are going to the movies tonight. I am taking a lean cuisine panini with me and 94% FF microwave popcorn. :lmao: Movie popcorn is my nemesis!!! ;)

As of 4:15 pm, I've had 56 oz water. I'll take a water bottle to the movies with me, too.

Total water for day -- 72 oz

Cam I followed a link here - the lazy way thought you were going to lead me to the event/comp thread but I landed smack dab in your journal!!!

and I have to post!!

YOU are an AMAZING, INSPIRING, AWESOME soul!! Thank you so much for all you are - and thank you and your dd for always approaching me this weekend - it really made me feel like... like I belonged!! You made Tim enjoy the Scream Team Experience, and made him feel a part of the WISH Team -

I just barely joined the Wish team, as I lurked - I posted every now and again on the weekly thread, but often I felt I went unnoticed.. so I wasnt sure how things would go Sat and Sun - but I went with an open mind... I felt so awkward at Pop - but between you and Anne - I felt like I was accepted!!

and I never want to attempt a Marathon - I know I'm crazy, but a MARATHON???!! :faint: To be honest, I feel like I 'just' did a Half marathon, and that's nothing more than a day at the Parks!! and as soon as the swelling in my feet go down, I'm getting out there and working on a 5K -

Good luck with your goals, if you want to join me and my crazy weight loss team, please, jump on - you wont believe how fun and crazy our weight loss thread is - we're "The Peeps" and whenever you feel down, or lost, or depressed, someone is there to lift you up!! We coined a WWPD (What Would Peeps Do?) as I was trying to decide what to have for lu nch, and instead of driving up the drive thru at Wendy's, I found a healthier alternative...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=22652988#post22652988

My goal is to be down 20#'s for my DS wedding Jan '09.... I'm not great at goals tho - so your story, your posts, your journal... so very inspiring!!

Thank you so much Cam!
Sandy

Oh, Sandy! Thank you so much for ending up here and thank you so much for the invitation to the peeps thread! I can't wait to check it out! I am so happy you enjoyed your first marathon weekend; I know what it is like to be new, and the WISH team just reels you right into a big, fat hug! Tim was so great about hanging out with us and dealing with our lack of sleep craziness! I am glad he had fun! Thank you again for cheering in MK. It was awesome to see you there!
Looking forward to seeing you on the training thread a lot more this year. Now, your goal for next year can be a new 1/2 marathon PR! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 With lots of help!!

The Peeps thread has one guy from Wisconsin that keeps throwing challenges at us - Aaron - he doesnt post much, but we're reeling him in too!!

Just jump in with your goal, and know you'll fit right in!! We call it our diary that talks back - its where I do most of my journaling - I know that to open a journal thread you have a specific place to look back and see how far you've come, but I'm just not there -

The Peeps did a Disney Meet last Sept - it was so fun - Tim was a little concerned the WISH'ers would be like that - but he felt a connection to the runners!!

(oh and if anyone mentions posting a pic of you in a bikini - just know its our way of breaking the ice - so just tell them you'll post it right after mine!!)

Saturday
Weight -- 1?7.5 -- down 7 pounds in 2 days which confirms that it was still retained fluids from the marathon and subsequent days of inadequate water intake. So, I am really only 7.6 pounds from wedding gown shopping weight! Of course, I am hoping to lose much more than that between now and the end of February. :goodvibes

Today's plan is to unpack all my trip stuff and get it put away in an organized fashion, go shopping for lots and lots of good foods, including ingredients for ground turkey chili and WW zero point veggie soup.

This afternoon I'm going to see "27 Dresses" with Jenn and Howard will take Andrew to see "Sweeney Todd". It is so nice not to feel any pressure to go to the gym right now. I have 15 weeks until the Minnie, so I don't feel badly about taking a few more days off. It was glorious to sleep in until 9:30!!!!!

Haven't come up with the day's food plan yet, so I'll be back to post that later.
-----------------
Okay, here is how food went:
B: WW breakfast sandwich
S: diet soda
L: whole wheat flat out with hummus; LC panini
S: microwave popcorn
D: turkey chili; bites of veggie soup; 5 oz london broil w/1 sl. FF cheese
D: 2 chocolates; cashews

Total calories: 1608 (UGH!)

Today's weight - 1?9.2

Okay, it's up a bit, but I ate dinner pretty late last night and my fingers are very swollen this morning from all the salt. Hopefully, it will be better tomorrow.

I made a huge "vat" of turkey veggie chili and garden veggie soup last night and it is all portioned for meals this week. Hoping that will jump start my weight loss again.

Food today:
B: coffee w/LF milk; huge salad w/turkey slices (90 cals) & FF dressing
L: garden veggie soup; cheddar rice cakes (100)

Off to shop for bar stools and kitchen chairs for our newly renovated kitchen & FR. :woohoo:

Back later!

Hi Cam!!! You CAN Do it!!! Wedding gown shopping! What great motivation!

Our last VP here at work had this phrase...Relentless Execution. (Amy's Relentless made me think of this...) You've set that goal, now it's time to Execute! You can do it!

Keep up the good work!!!
Stacie

Hi Cam,

Wedding gown shopping sounds like great motivation! I know you CAN and I know you WILL meet your goals, Cam!:cheer2:

How did you like 27 Dresses? It looks like a cute movie!:goodvibes

Hope you're having a great week!

Hi Cam!

I had to stop by and tell you what a total inspiration you are! I could say so much, but just reading your marathon report proves how much dedication, courage, willpower and generosity you have. You are amazing. Always thinking about the other people (daughter, the runners on the side of the road, the WISHers) ahead of yourself...what an awesome trait to have.

I was so pleased to see that everything turned out great...that you didn't get swept...and that the finish line hug was way more important than the medal. Be proud of what you accomplished out there, you did an awesome job.

Congratulations Cam. :goodvibes:

Keep up the great work! I have total confidence you'll reach all of your goals.

Oh, my goodness, Scott! You made me cry! you are one of my personal heroes! Look at all you have accomplished and how you have completely improved your life! And look at how you and Amy have totally supported and encouraged each other on to great things! And you're complimenting me? Thank you. Thank you.

Tracy and Stacie -- THank you for the encouragement! I really wish we didn't have this nice new brushed stainless steel fridge -- I really need to stick some bridal gown pix up there to keep me from eating! And we might as well padlock the snack closet and throw away the key! I have no willpower! :lmao:

Actually, today I have been totally on track. Completely within WW points and within my sparkpeople nutrition guidelines. AND I went to the gym for the second night in a row. Last night was 30 minutes elliptical and 30 on the bike. Tonight was 50 on the treadmill. Getting back in the groove. Hoping it doesn't cause the usual cessation of weight loss for me. :confused3 Gotta get in shape for the Minnie! :thumbsup2

Tracy -- 27 dresses was wonderful! Funny and clever and original and very romantic!
