Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

Hey Cam!

Sorry I haven't been by in a few! Glad to see you are doing well and coming to good realizations about your food, ie. in reference to eating out. Restaurant even just has all the extra sodium that could be holding some water on you. I think you will see a change after a few days of clean food. :)
I like your thoughts on junk food too!! As usually, you get me thinking!!!

Hope you have a great wednesday!!
Mike :)

Way to go Cam!!!! Good for you for putting the junk food down and getting something better!!!!!

Keep up the good work! You will see scale movement, I just know it!

Thanks, Jamie! I am hoping this is the week I get things under control again. There are only 2 meals that I can think of where I won't have any control over what types of food are available -- one is tomorrow night at the awards ceremony. Not sure of the food situation and we may go out afterwards to celebrate. On Sunday we are going to my "niece's" birthday party and her daddy -- my best friend in the world -- is the world's greatest cook! He is big on protein, though, so I should be able to find something to eat. :teeth:

Thank you so much, Mike & Kate! Mike -- you could be right. Just being so conscientious yesterday may have made a difference already on the retaining water thing -- my rings are so loose today! :)

I finished out yesterday strong. I never did get that yogurt or cheese & crackers. I had a piece of gum and went into a meeting instead. Left work around 6:30 and got my nails done and got home around 8. It was the first time in a while I stayed well within points. Didn't bail on my exercise, either, so I am still on track with my training plan, hit 470/900 on the October exercise challenge, and finished the 100 day cheat-free challenge!!!!!

Last night's food:
S: philly swirl stick (1)
D: 1.5 hot pocket ultra (ICKY!!! ate only the insides on one of them) (6)
Dessert: breyers no sugar added vanilla (1 DELICIOUS point!) w/tiny bits of chocolate syrup, sprinkles, nuts (2)

Today:
B: lite EM (1) w/3 sl lite turkey (.5) & 1 sl ff cheese (.5); fiber yogurt w/kashi (1.5)
L: "free" garden salad (0); fat free dressing (1); 3/4 roll (3); can of solid white tuna (4); fat free pringles (1.5)
S: weight watchers carrot snack cake (1)
D: 2 hard boiled eggs (4); light mayo (1); tortilla (1.5); lite EM (1)
Dessert: same as last night -- 1/2 cup NSA vanilla Breyers (1); chocolate syrup, sprinkles & nuts (2 -- less tonight)

Looking forward to staying on track today.

So, kiddo, what do you say? Should we start another one to get us to Christmas or New Years? I'm kind of bummed it is over, though I didn't go out and binge today or anything!

cross-posted from the training thread, so that I have this information here:

moved up my 30 minute walk + speed/form drills from tomorrow to today because of a big commitment tomorrow night (our family was named Family of the Year by Special Olympics for our state and we'll be honored at the "Night of Heroes" tomorrow night for our commitment and volunteerism.)

So, tonight, I did a 5 minute warmup and 30 minute walk at avg pace 15:24

Then speed/form drills:

1 minute at 13:52 2 minutes at 15:21
1 minute at 14:16 2 minutes at 15:51
1 minute at 13:29 2 minutes at 15:49
1 minute at 13:23

I know I did some stuff wrong, and I had some problems because some of the "intervals" weren't on straightaways. But I am pleased to see that the "speed" parts were good paces. I am really going to work on improving that stuff. Overall, I did 2.95 in 45:00 (15:15 pace overall). Wish I'd remembered to "lap" after the warmup 5 minutes to see the pace without that, but this is good. I'm pretty pleased.

Hi Cam,

Thanks for the support you have given e.

CONGRATS on completing the 100 day challenge. You should be very proud of yourself. Also congrats on not binging out today. That is almost as impressive.

Take care,
Beth

Thanks, Jen & Beth!
Well, today could be crazy. Leaving work at 2 to get ready for the awards ceremony. Still can't believe my best friend is driving more than 2 hours to come down for it. That makes me feel really loved. Thanks, Jason! :lovestruc

Food today:
B: turkey on english muffin (4); 16 oz water; coffee w/skim milk & sm. creamer (.5)
L: fat free tuna salad and crackers (3)

GO CAM!!!!
YAY!!!

YOu did the cheat free challenge! That rocks!!! Time to start the next one!! :)

Hey Cam!

I am so proud of you for completing that 100 Day Cheat Free Challenge! That shows your determination and your strength and you should be very proud of yourself! ::yes::

I hope you have a great weekend! :sunny:

Thank you, Mike & Tracy! It was fun to finish it!

The ceremony was wonderful last night. Lots of warmth and smiles. Amazing! David Akers from the Eagles was the keynote speaker and he was wonderful. We spent some time with him afterwards and he was wonderful with DS12 and autographed a great picture for him and wrote "To Andrew, God Bless, David Akers" My son will be the envy of his classmates!

Didn't do too badly on food, either -- tastes of shrimp, lemon pepper tuna and chicken tenders (2); white wine spritzer (4?). Then dinner: crab & shrimp cake (3); tastes of calamari (1); sample of gumbo (1); tastes of nachos (4); ice cream (3).

Today:
B: lite EM w/1 sl ff cheese (1.5); fiber yogurt w/kashi (1.5); 2 small plums (1)
L: (DELICIOUS!!!) cut up an apple in a Lean Cusine chicken in peanut sauce (7 total)
S: 100 calorie peanut butter crisps (2)
D: 2 lite HDs (3); lite EM (1); lite tortilla (1.5); shrimp (2)
Dessert: NSA double churned breyers vanilla w/toppings (5)

I just went into the kitchen to get water. Here is what is on the table in there right now: pumpkin pie, apple pie, a dozen donuts, chocolate chip cookies. UGH!

Fortunately (?), my tummy has been unhappy for a few days and still doesn't feel great so I am not really tempted. But I'll have to go in there many, many times throughout the day, and I am hoping I remain uninterested. :sad1:

Hope you have a good weekend. (Stay away from the pies and donuts!! :sunny: )

Hi Cam!!!

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I know you can resist the pies and doughnuts...I just know you can!

Hope you had a wonderful Friday!!! Keep up the great work!

Thanks, guys! Yes, I totally avoided all the treats in the kitchen, and then was so busy packing my office (it is being painted and carpeted this weekend), that I didn't have time to think about food.

Did 2 miles of 3 mile WATP tonight for my 30 minutes cross training. Have to do a 4 mile walk/jog tomorrow. Am hoping the weather isn't too miserable!

Sounds like the banquet went really well. Awesome job avoiding all the temptations at work.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

I got my book and read the first chapter......can I really do this????? time will tell...... YOU are my inspiration!!

Hi Cam-

Boy, I need to be better about checking your journal more regularly. This thing moves!!

Congrats on the cheat free challenge. If you start a new one I will come check it out.

Good for you for avoiding all the evil treats in your own kitchen.

Is DD marching this weekend? If so I hope it goes well. :flower:

cam--you are doing so great--great job resisting the donuts and pies!!!

im glad the banquet went well---you know, im not an eagles fan (scary since i live in "eagle territory), but david akers always seems to be so down to earth and a very friendly guy--im glad you got to meet him and he was so nice to your son!!

have a great weekend!

Just popping in to say 'hi'! Hope you had a good weekend and that this week goes well!

You have been doing so well Cam - good job. Keep up the good work!!!!
