Hi everyone! I have been pretty set on the site we want to stay in, since our very first (and extremely special) stay at the campgrounds. Before that, we'd stayed in the cabins our first trip, and on our second trip we simply requested a spot near the pool. We ended up in the Big Bear Loop- site 1432.

Some of you might remember that was the trip we took in the "rolling turd", and we made so many special memories. From bringing my mom with us, to spending the last days I ever would with my big brother- it was a trip I will remember forever. Because of that alone, that campsite became very special to me....

But there were other things- more specific things- that we loved so much about our Loop and our site. The location of the loop was wonderful, because it was close to the pool, close to the dog park, and not even too far of a jaunt to the beach. (we bring our bikes, and also get a golf cart). We were just one site over from the comfort station. And I think the thing we loved most- we could sit outside our camper at night, and hear the sing along, and even hear the movie. Our kids could just walk across the pathway to go watch the movie at night, and we didn't even worry about them because it was so close. They could even walk to the pool , and as long as we were shortly behind them I didn't worry about that. (they are now 11 and 14)

So.... this coming October 1st, we'll be arriving at the Fort again for 2 beautiful weeks! And I do have a request in for our Loop and site that we are hoping to get again :) But I'm curious- on the chance we can't get that location-- does anyone have any input on sites that have the same wonderful benefits that site 1432 does? In particular the closeness to the campfire and movie? I would love any and all input, so if we arrive and are given other options on a site that's available, I'll be better ready to make that decision.

Shoot for 600 loop next if those are the things you are most interested in being close to. Not gonna be as shaded as 1400 though. After that I highly recommend 900 loop as it was an easy walk to the Meadows, pool, and only just longer to the movie which was easily accessed going through the 600 loop.

Little Bear loop was a pain to get the camper in and out of and the sites did not seem to have as much depth at all. I really don't like that loop if you are in a bigger rig but probably great with smaller ones.

Hmmmm.... with the new camper I may not want to mention that little tidbit regarding difficulty with bigger rigs But then again- he's an over the road truck driver and he can back his semi into the tiniest little spots, so maybe it won't matter to him
Where are 900 and 600 at, Tiggerdad?

900 is directly across the street from the Meadows, and 600 backs up to 1400. I can take some pics in the morning if you want.

I've stayed in 900 but you might like 600 facing the lake to get the movie/singalong experience. Problem is for that loop, a Comfort Station is a hike in any direction but if you're in a trailer/rv it should not be a big issue.

This is hard to picture for me- I would very much appreciated any pictures! Thank you for offering I was thinking 1400 had a canal all the way around it... so I'm trying to picture how 600 backs up to it...

We'll have the camper but it is really nice having the comfstation! Is there any sites in 600 that are close to a comfort station?

The Fort map shows a canal running between the 600 and 1400 loop. I will take a couple pics of both loops and post them in the morning.
@tiggerdad was in, I believe site 923 back in Oct. 2015 when we were all there, that was a nice walk over to the Meadows pool, not sure if he could hear the campfire show from his site or not though.

We stayed in the 1300 (1327) loop in December and January, and this site, was by far, our favorite. More spacious, side to side, and so much space behind. We were in the inner loop. Our fiver is about 42.6 long, and I know the 1400 loops, little or big, would not work. This was a close walk to the pool. We could see the pool and tennis courts from the site across from us.(when they left!) The Loops directly below the Meadows, and backed up to the canal, seemed very close, side by side to us. It was just a bit too close for this country person. But then, what is not to love at the Fort.

We also loved the 1400 loop. We stayed once in 1401. Loved it's location relative to the things we liked to do.

Another good alternative that wasn't too bad is the 1000 loop. It's basically right across the street from the Meadows Trading Post and is relatively central to just about everything.

Just for reference... Here is a map.

This one is of the site next to the path to the campfire. You can see the movie screen and bleachers in the center of the pic.

There are 37 sites in the 600 loop, this is of the last site.

Thank you so much snowmedic! Wonderful pictures! And they sure make me miss being there- even more than I already do....

Since posting this, I've been researching all the information and maps, as well as any pictures I can find. I think I've come to the conclusion that there is no site that really compares to the one we had- at least not for the things we loved so much about it. I think maybe our best bet will be to keep our fingers crossed for the site we are hoping for, and if someone is in it, perhaps they'll be checking out at some point before we do, and we could hopefully have the option of moving :) It would be worth it to use to do that! Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions!

@serenitygr you may be surprised even if you don't get that exact site that, the one you do get you will love just as much.

Either way here's hoping you wish comes true and that you will have an awesome trip.
