Can anyone tell me what is the measurement of the sand area of the campsite? We will be getting a partial and need to know how much sand we will have to set up camp on. Thanks!

There is no set answer for a sand pad size in the Partials.

I had the smallest pad I've ever had in 1513 and the largest I've ever had (nearly twice the size of 1513 both in depth and width) in 1504. My times in 2000 were in betweeen these two. One site in 1500 has a decent sized tree growing on the inside of the pad which renders a good portion of it useless.

Wish there was a standard pat answer but unfortunately there is not.

What you can do is get a comment added to your ressie that says (as an example) "my tent is 10x12, my ez-up is 10x10, etc." or whatever. Provide the Fort assigner with the sizes of whatever major items you will be setting up. That way they can get you in a site that fits the first time.

PS - my last trip to the Fort I was assigned to a site in 2000, drove down to it, and somebody was set up in it!

I stopped at the Comfort Station and used the house phone to call the Fort check-in and explain and they assigned me a nearby site on the spot that I asked for. So you never know what will happen but it nearly always works out.

Thanks

Our tent is pretty big 10x17 and just want to make sure it fits. :thumbsup2

Great question!! We are tent camping in May and never realized the sites had diff size sand areas. We have a large tent for sleeping - 10X18, a smaller tent for our supplies and luggage - 8X10, and then an easy up. Think we would fit on the average sized site? We requested 1500 loop.

mommy2paris,

Again, 1500 sites will vary in size. The best bet is as I said to ArielRae to get your size information on your ressie. Or include it if you do the 4-day pre-fax.

I took pictures of several Partial sites in my most recent trip report with tents on them and you can look at them to get a feel for the size of the pad (most are on page 1 and 3 of the thread). mash here

Last year I answered a lot of questions for a poster named Instacamper (his posts are in my thread above). He had a BIG tent (I think it was 12x15). He posted a trip report last summer with a photobucket link that shows his tent on a pad in 2000 loop. Might be worth looking at. (Sounds like he had a great trip too). His TR

Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the links! It really helps to see pics of others set ups. I appreciate it.
