My parents are planning on joining us on our upcoming trip and staying at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. They plan on bringing their dog. Anyone have any experience with camping at Disney with a dog?

We always camp with our beagle. FW has a very nice kennel with an excellent staff for a very reasonable cost. You must walk your pet during the day, however, and they do keep track of this. Proof of vaccination is required. Pets are allowed to stay in hard sided trailers or motorhomes, but only in designated pet loops. Pet loops have stations with pick up bags for droppings in several locations per pet loop. Pets can stay with owners overnight in pop up's, but have to be quiet and cannot be left alone. There is an additional fee for staying with your pet in the pet loops whether you use the kennel or not. Overnight stays in the kennel are allowed for a slightly higher fee.

Personally, I like the kennel for the day. Mickey stays with us in our camper each night. He rather likes staying there, mainly because the staff make a big deal out of him and give him a lot of attention. Last year he forgot his favorite toy so they went out and got a squeaky for him. He still carries this toy around.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I will be passing the information on! This way, the princess pooch will be well taken care of during it's trip! She goes everywhere with them!

Gunnar, the camping corgi, loves to vacation at FW! He stays in the motorhome while we are out. Staying in a kennel would really stress him out. He loves long walks and bike rides (he runs attached to my bike) and thinks it is heaven at FW!

Our dogs LOVE camping. I love having them. There's an awesome walking area that runs along the water. It's so beautiful! One thing you may look into is flea and tick control. We're from Canada so we don't treat our dogs year round. The first year we camped there they both got SEVERAL ticks. One tick is one tick too many! So now, before we go we purchase combo flea/tick control and apply when we arrive. Our queen would not kennel well.
Our princess would take everything in stride. Also, just as a heads up..we saw snakes sunning themselves in the grass along the water. We all jumped and I screamed..(the first time)..I'm sure they mean no harm, they just took us off guard.
